Insurance Underwriter jobs? (i have an interview)

so, I have a B.Sc in life science, and just finished an M.Sc in Pharmacology. On a whim I applied to an insurance company because I haven’t found any other jobs during this recession business. So, they called me up today and after a phone interview offered me an in person interview this friday.
Now, they actually made it sound like its alot of administrative stuff, and generally not that interesting. So, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it, and could let me know what they think about it? I’m 24 so I am obviously interested in growth potential, being mentally engaged, etc…
-thanks so much

A freind of mine started out underwriting and now does commercial corporate accounts. There is good money to be made in it but he HATES IT. HATES HATES HATES and that is being nice. I just think it is the wrong job for him but he now has a young family and won’t be going anywhere now.

why does he hate it so much?

Out of curiosity, what company?
