I’ve just got some Visiontech brake levers and base bars. The brake levers are a very tight fit on the bars - any tips for installing them from other people who use them?
once you get the levers on, make sure that you glue the aero end caps in place. I’ve already lost and replaced and lost again both end caps.
Ah. As far as I can see the problem is the thick enamel on the base bars makes their diameter too big for the levers - did you remove any of the enamel?
I don’t recall having to do anything to get them to fit on, and I was also using the VT Base bar. I recall it being a very tight fit though. I think I completely removed the single bolt in the clamp to ease the installation of the levers onto the bar, then once they were on, reinstalled the bolt into the clamp.
I had to remove some of the enamel to fit mine on. (Fine grit wetpaper). The reason the caps fall out (IMO) is the base bar spreads the clamp out too much to hold the cap on. I haven’t lost a cap yet.
Thanks, that’s roughly what I was thinking of doing. Also good to know it’s not just me having this difficulty. You would have thought Visiontech would have tried fitting their brake levers to their own bars?!?
Just installed my tektro levers onto my new vision base bar. Had to get the measuring caliper out to check there wasn’t anything wrong.
I removed the enamel around the end of the tube and then used a little ‘gentle persuasion’ to ease the levers into place. A piece of wood, and a tap of a hammer were all it too, I didn’t want to be too rough with them.
