I took out the core from the presta, but it doesn’t go in either side of the extender.
What am I doing wrong???
Thanks!

You probably have an extender that doesn’t require core removal (ex. Zipp’s). For these, you just leave the core in, and the valve open/unscrewed. The air pressure in the tire is enough to keep the valve from opening while riding.

You are the man!!!
Thanks a mill!
Now to finish installing my tires…

No prob. A quick note: it takes some pressure to initially unstick the valve when you are pumping your tires and they already have some pressure. I usually poke a paper clip down the valve extender to crack the valve before pumping the tires.
Tips for Zipp style valve extenders:
1.) loctite the nut that colses the valve all the way open
2.) put teflon tape around the threaded part before you install the valve extender- way better seal

+1000 on this. This is how my shop does it, this is how my mech does it, and this is how I was taught to do it.
