Installing magura rt6 brakes on P3...problems?

I bought a set of Magura RT6 brakes off of someone on slowtwich and have finally gotten around to trying to install them. A lot of the hardware didn’t come with them. Is there some sort of conversion kit? Basically what is happening on the front is the brake is installing too close to my head tube and there isn’t enough room for the tube to get past the head tube. Is there some way to install the brake farther away from the fork? Seen to have a similar problem with the rear but not to the same extreme.

My mechanic buddy installed mine on my p3 and had to put an extra spacer or two between the caliper and the fork. Not a matter of parts being missing, but extra parts being needed.

That is kinda what I thought but didn’t know if magura make a kit for this I could order.

Hi iplumbsome,

I have RT brakes on my P3 too! Great combo.

tri-tele got it right, just add a few more spacers until the hose clears the nose. Check that the brake mounting nut in the fork still engages at least 6 turns. There’s a small chance it might not. If so, change to a longer nut. All these parts are pretty commonly floating around in a normal bike shop.

On the rear, I changed the bolt that holds the brake plate to the frame. From a socket head (takes an allen key) to a hex head (takes an open end wrench). The thread is M6.

Enjoy,

Cool…thanks for the help! That was my plan on the rear also.
