Just curious who makes inner tubes (for clinchers) with removable valve cores. I just got a pair of carbon clinchers and hate the basic extenders that came with them. I’d rather use the screw in extenders (which I have loads of at home) that are common for tubulars. Thanks!
Vredstein latex - great. Hard to find and a little expensive though
Add Bontrager XXX latex and Hutchinson Team Competition latex:
Most Continental tubes have removeable cores. Same with Vittoria. I just got some of the new Bontrager latex tubes. They also have removeable cores. They’re pricey, though … just like the Vredesteins.
I noticed that the Michelin latex tubes are not on your list. Any particular reason, or you just did not have any handy to test? I have hear complaints about their reliability/durability compared to other latex, but not sure how accurate that is.

The Michelin Aircomp Latex do NOT have removable valve cores.
The entire list is mostly done using Michelin latex tubes. The 18/20 size is equivalent to the others but the 22/23 size seems to run a bit higher in Crr (~ 0.0001). Jens first measured this and I saw the same. As Dr. Roof noted, the Michelins do NOT have removable valve cores. I can’t comment directly on reliability but it if you have a set up which does not have any opportunities for the latex to extrude into a relatively large space they will last a long time. I also store my latex tubes in sealed plastic bags.

That’s absolutely mandatory if you plan to keep any around for any length of time.

I’ll second that which is why I find it interesting that the Vredsteins are shipped/stored in a plastic baggie and the Michelins are not. I wonder if Michelin’s blue/green dye is somehow supposed to increase longevity?
QTubes aka Quality Tubes. They are pretty cheap too.
Thanks for posting this. I have been looking for latex tubes with removable cores.
Thanks for everyone’s advice. The latex tubes are an interesting option, but I’ll probably try the Continental or Q-Tubes first because of price and these are primarily for training. I might also be able to get a valve stem long enough that I won’t need extenders…
With all the deep section rims out there I have started stocking 60 and 80 mm valve stems on tubes. Yes they are more expensive but the problem with the etenders and air leakage is solved.
Where do you get 80mm valve stems? I just go some 85mm Edge clinchers and would really love to find some 85mm valve tubes and avoid the extender thing…
I’m not the best at math, but how does an 80mm valve stem solve your problem of not needing extender with an 85mm rim? ;-0
Well, since I had not seen a reference anywhere online to 80mm valve tubes, I was following the logic “maybe somebody that makes 80mm makes some longer as well”… clearly may be flawed logic, but thought I’d give it a shot…

I found a Michelin latex tube that went through last winter in its box and in another, larger box out in my storage building. It pretty much fell apart in my hands before I ever got any air into it.
Well, that shoots that theory then! The French must just like that color … I prefer the German simplicity/functionality approach myself

A fellow ST’er recommended these for some 60mm rims. http://www.all3sports.com/product_info.php?pName=kenda-80mm-xlong-valve-tube&jsenabled=1&osCsid=c24a6033096554e7d51edeeab6d9c5ad - really cheap too, unless you want them delivered to Canada.
Not sure if they make longer than 80mm but perhaps a place to start.
