I was wondering if it is neccessary to take some sort of electrolyte tablets along with Infinite. I am doing IMLou and am a little concered about cramping with the high heat and humidity. I talked to Infinite and they said it was not neccessary. In training I didn’t use anything other than Infinite, although it has not been that hot here in michigan. I have the sodium slider moved over to the high side for my mix. Is there any problem with too over doing it with the sodium and electrolytes? Any thoughts?

Check your formula to see how much sodium (the primary electrolyte of concern) is in a bottle, and compare that against your needs. If you feel you have cramped up due to a loss of sodium, consider revising your infinit.
It is a touch late to play with any changes to your diet / nutrition for an IM so beware.
I have 1500mg of sodium per bottle in my Infinit, and outside of having quite the taste in my mouth, it works fantastic for me. If you have questions, contact michael from Infinit.
i just checked my sodium level in my infinit looks like 500mg. the slider will only goes up to about 650mg? How do you determin your sodium requirements? I know its kind of late and I haven’t had any cramping problems. First time IM and I’m worried about everything. Do you think there is a problem with electrolyte tabs, like having too much?
I can tell you my one experience with experimenting in training. I was using infinit, I think my sodium level is 600mg per serving (1 hour). It was a warm day, low 80’s, but not too hot. I was sweating consistently, but I wasn’t covered with the white crystals like usual. I wanted to experiment with higher sodium intake so i supplemented with extra thermotabs. I was popping 2 every half hour starting at 30min into the ride (I usually supplement with 1 every 30min-1hr depending on conditions). I was about 1.5 hrs into the ride and had this wave of nausea overtake me. Thankfully someone flatted and I had a few minutes to regroup. All in all I felt nauseous for appx 20min. I am not 100% certain it was related to the extra sodium, but that was the only thing I changed on that ride. I drank extra water trying to calm my stomach and kept riding. So, that was my n=1 experience with too many electrolyte tabs.
When i used hammer products I needed to add 3 endurolytes to each serving to keep me straight but since switching to infinit and speaking with them as you have, I have not added in any extra electrolytes and have been able to race well in various conditions, they deal with lot’s of athletes and I would tend to trust their advice as for me so far it has been right on…good luck in Louisville!!!
If I’m drinking a lot of water in addition to my bottle of Infinit I’ll supplment with some Succeed! Salt Caps. However, I usually will bite the caplet open. If the salt tastes good, I swallow it. If it doesn’t, I spit it out. It’s a great way to listen to your body and get what you need. Try it out!
thanks, I will give it a try.
I am also Infinit user. I also sweat a lot and loose electrolytes. I manualy moved the slider to 425mg of sodium and used it for several months. I get severly thirsty with that level and my Infinit has a very salty taste to it. I still cramped in the second half of 70.3 run split at 76F but I have no way of using Infinit on the run. Run, for me is fueled by Roctane, water and salt stick tabs. I consulted with them, due to thirst, they suggested I roll the sodium below 400mg. I redid the electronic interview, “the machine” spit out sodium level of 576mg per serving (for me per hour). So, I am puzzled about it. I just don’t know what is it going to taste at 576mg of sodium, and how thirsty is that going to make me. I carry 3 bottles on board during 70.3 and don’t want to have to add water and haul that around. I always look forward getting lighter through the race as I empty those bottles.

Michael made me a custom formula
I use Infinit, but now carry electrolyte capsules on the bike. I load up a water bottle with enough powder to last what I think will be the duration of the ride - up to 3.5 hours - and add water. Sometimes I misjudge the time and run out of nutrition. I carry plain water in the aerobars bottle and replenish it as necessary. It’s reassuring to have some capsules to wash down with water if I run out of the Infinit.
