Infinit Flavors

All:

I am going to order some Infinit for a 1/2 IM in September and maybe to carry during the Chicago Marathon in October. I was hoping to get some feedback on which flavor is a bit more appealing during a race. FWIW, I am using Gatorade Endurance now.

Bob

Hi Bob, i’ve had both orange and lemon lime.

personally, i love lemon lime, but the orange tastes good too. in fact on a brutally humid race course yesterday we had orange and i thought it was perfect!

you can determine how much flavor you want in it, which makes it fool-proof. (i choose something in the middle of a little less than that. it is really up to each person what they like).
this makes it impossible to go wrong. so, if you really like orange flavor then go for that (orange pop for example, or oranges in general). if you like lemon lime (which reminds me of lemonaid) then you could go for that too.

Orange is a 10
LL is a 9
Fruit punch is about a 4 in my book, but it still tastes better than just about any other mix.

So, and this might be a dumb question, for a 56 miel bike could I get away with two bottles on Infinit and two bottles of water (One bottle swap) and still be in decent shape for the run?

Bob

i don’t know–you’ll have to figure that out. so, order your product now, as you have time to see if that’s right.

the thing to remember is that it’s not just a ride–you’ve got to run 13 after the nearly 60 mile bike…

everybody is different, but if it were me, i would stick with infinit (but am paranoid to go without it!) you could stick bottles on the back of your frame, or if you have an aero bottle, squirt in a concentrated infinit solution from a gel flask into water you pick up on the course. or if you wear a cycling jersey stick a bottle of infinit in your back pocket (i do this pratically every ride).

i never ride/run with just water; as to do so is a recipe for disaster for me personally. i always aim for three 24 ounce bottles of infinit per 50 miles!

now i’m even running with infinit–a special “run formula” with caffeine, electrolyte and a realitively low amount of carbohydrate, coming in at 240 calories per 2 scoops. i can go out in 90+ degree heat with high humidity and plug along just fine!

if you need more help, just ask–alot of us use it and have developed ways to make it work over distance, even for an IM race course.

I think I’ll order some and experiment. For a 43 mile LC duath last month I used 1/2 bottle of Carbo Pro (600 cals) One bottle of Gatorade and tow bottles of water, so if I id two Infinit and two bottels of water I might well be ok.

Bob

for the bike I use about 1/4 of the slider for flavor. It tastes like nothing at home, but you’ll appreciate it better as things get hotter. for the run, I use about 1/8 slider as I make a concentrate that I drink with a swig of water at aid stations.

OH! I use the Lemon Lime flavor.

Orange is the most popular followed closely by LL. I would start at flavor level 5-6. Too low is a bit of a shock for some nubies to the product. I personally do not like it that low, but many may do. To each his own. Our high flavor is nothing like what most other compainies use. We are lower across theboard.

I am finding more and more of our peeps using a two part system. A heavy and a light mix.

Heavy with higher calories and some protein for training and the bike on their long races.

Light, with lighter calories, no protein and some caffeine for their runs and their sprint races.

Hope that helps. I sounds 2 me like you are on the right track for sure. You will be very pleased with the way you feel opposed to just carbo pro.

Thanks for all of your help folks. I ordered a 25 serving of custom blended “Rocket Fuel” as well as the Sample Pack. We’ll see how it goes.
