they donât have a reputation for on-road comfort (particularly steering feel) but itâs a pretty cool vehicle regardless. if you used it as a proper defender instead of a school pickup defender I think youâd be happy
I wouldnât say my 5th Gen 4Runner is known for comfortâŚ. but would have to drive one.
Definitely not using it as an intown car and the wife would probably drive this even less than the 4Runner
The robust construction and thinking about repairability and minimizing servos is attractive to me.
Not sure how I feel about the new 4runnners and they arenât much different in price. Definitely just window shopping currently but donât remember hearing about them before a few weeks ago.
Pros: Feels industrial and has very strong/solid engineering (that BMW motor is tried and trusted). Good headroom and visibility. Easy to after market nice finishes (our dealer has a standard upgraded after market leather package).
Cons: Itâs not a lie flat storage area with the back seats folded down. Meh gas mileage (but, if you buy something for hauling stuff, thatâs not a top priority). Rough ride (relative to my Cayenne GTS).
Bottom line: Distinct and fun vehicle for those who want to carry lots of stuff in tough terrain.
Same take. I have 2 friends who drive them. I got to take one for a test drive a few months ago. I loved it. Lots of switches and physical buttons. It felt solid. Not plasticky. Build quality seemed solid. The doors close with a thunk not a wang. Acceleration was fine given the size and weight but itâs not a quick vehicle. Interiors well done but not plush (my wife liked the look but disliked the feel ⌠point of comparison she drives a â26 Acura MDX).
Iâd drive one although I would be a bit nervous about Ineos as a company and future support. I bet maintenance isnât cheap. The BMW motor and ZF transmission are solid.
Honestly, itâs hard to understand why youâd buy one unless you plan to do some serious off roading. Put plainly, a Cayenne S or GTS will be faster, more comfortable interior, better gas mileage, and similar towing capacity. Or, hereâs your AI generated comparison: The Porsche Cayenne S and Ineos Grenadier target different needs: the Cayenne S is a refined, high-performance luxury SUV, while the Grenadier is an rugged, old-school off-roader. Both boast an impressive 7,716 lbs (\(3500\text{ kg}\)) towing capacity. The Cayenne excels in speed, comfort, and tech, whereas the Grenadier excels in durability and off-road capability. Key Comparison: Porsche Cayenne S vs. Ineos Grenadier
Towing Capacity: Both vehicles offer roughly the same maximum towing capacity, rated at 7,700â7,716 lbs (approx. \(3500\text{ kg}\)).
Performance & Engine:
Cayenne S: Generally features a twin-turbo V6 (348 hp to 400+ hp depending on year), delivering superior acceleration and highway performance.
Grenadier: Uses a 3.0L turbocharged BMW inline-six (approx. 282 hp), designed for low-end torque rather than speed.
Driving Experience: The Cayenne S delivers a sports-car-like, luxurious ride with advanced suspension. The Grenadier offers a âtractor-like,â utilitarian feel with heavy steering and a rigid body-on-frame design, optimized for rough terrain, notes.
Interior & Technology: The Cayenne features high-end infotainment, modern driver-assistance features, and premium comfort. The Grenadier focuses on functional design, with large physical switches designed to be used with gloves, often lacking luxury conveniences found in the Cayenne
appreciate your take on it. At some point will try and drive one but either they are just super uncommon where I am at or I just assumed it was a rover.
I am guessing that with that high of a price tag, plus what I expect would be an equal high cost for service and spare parts, that most of the purchases will be from folks who are not actually using them for what they were built for. But no doubt theyâll haul the hell out of kids to soccer games and explore the urban streets like nobodyâs business.
Never know when the country club might flood. It lives in the rich side of the hood. Turn right into my neighborhood for the poors. Left by the golf course into that neighbor.
