"Independence" Day

Clan Vitus went to the parade in CdA yesterday. One of the groups marching handed out small American flags to spectators. Printed on the flag?

That’s right. “Made in China.”

Ugh. I had to restrain Mrs. Vitus. She was about to get up and create a big scene by way of returning her flag.

You’re trying to push me over the edge, aren’t you?

I swear I saw a flag decal on a bike’s seat tube (Giant, maybe?) that said “decal made in USA”.

Good for her! Obviously it was the fault of the person handing out the flags that the organizers purchased flags made in China.

Quit bugging me, or I’ll spill the beans about which group was handing out thousands of American flags manufactured in the People’s Republic of China.

Oh, do tell…was it the young democrats club?? http://www.curevents.com/vb/images/smilies/rolleyes2.gif

Please lose the stupid emoticon thing, it makes you look like kangaroo.

And no, it wasn’t the young dems club. It was the county Republicans. Seriously.

I happen to like emoticons. Just because kangaroo uses them; doesn’t mean they are not worthwile or fun.

Those damn Republicans!! I wonder if it is possible to buy small U. S. Flags that aren’t made in China?? Seriously.

I’m not trying to bash the republicans, I think our sorry, weak-ass dependence on slave labor is the most bipartisian issue in America today.

There was an article in our paper over the weekend that some state passed a law that each public school classroom must have an American Flag, and that the flag must be made in the U.S.A.

It didn’t say if it would be possible for the schools to abide by the latter part of the law.

“Those damn Republicans!!”

I may just have to add that to my signature line.

Keep the emoticons if you must, but please, no gratuitous semicolons.

That’s how we are going to bust all unions.

I think it was MN that passed a law that ALL US flags sold in the state must be made in the USA.

Please lose the stupid emoticon thing, it makes you look like kangaroo.

They can’t be doing any worse than the California Republican party who recently appointed a Canadian as their Political Director and got him an HB1 Visa to boot. Then the other shoe fell when it was disclosed that their Australian Finance Director had been detained for being in the country illegally, spent some time in a Federal prison and is currently suing the United States for a couple of hundred million bucks citing wrongful detention.

I saw a show the other night about Walmart on MSNBC and how they actively encouraged their suppliers to outsource their manufacturing operations to China. They interviewd one guy, former CEO of a company called Pilllowtex that made mattresses. He refused to outsource his labor, Walmart cancelled their order, and 16,000 Americans lost their jobs.

Unbridled unfettered capitalism means everything gets made in China. Its the American way.

you do realize that buying things from China has nothing to do with July 4th, Independce Day…

you also realize that the United States manufactures more goods than any other country in the world, right?
China’s manufactured goods isn’t even comparable to the US, or even Germany. I hardly call that dependence. LOL

Really?? The Chinese don’t pay the workers who make goods sent to America?? I had no idea!!

Damn dirty Republican’s!! No wonder the President is pushing the ‘‘Amnesty Bill’’ so hard!!

Damn dirty Wal-Mart!! I guess I better start shopping at Sam’s Club instead.

I think what most are upset about(myself included) is the desparity between the US and China in the trade relationship. It is lopsided in the billions every month, and just gets worse. China then uses all that extra cash to buy up our debt., and or companies that secure their energy needs. China is the smart one here, and I see exactly what they are doing, protecting their interests and their future… I just wish we had a few leaders with that vision. I’ve said it before, perhaps we don’t deserve to be the world econimic leader anymore, and a change is inevetable…

Sounds to me like Mrs. Vitus would like the book I saw on CNBC this morning: A Year Without “Made in China”

They probably priced flags and found those to be the cheapest. That shows smarts to me. Capitalism is heartless by design and has no room for hair splitting.
