In Brasil

eventually…reaaaaallllly tired now…very cloudy and definitely colder than el paso which hit 102f the day before I left.
no wind (specially compared to El Paso).
Bike is here intact (or so it appears)…
6 days to go…

Good luck Francois. I hope you kick some arse.

oh yeah right, that’s until you ride it for the first time and it starts to fell apart, take your GOOD helmet with you not the Rotor one
.

oh you mean the rotor toucan backwards?
got a rudy project TT helmet for the race…courtesy of team timex…

I hate you…

Very happy for you Francois. Recover from your trip get your sleep. I will take care of everything back here in the states. Do you need me to cover some of your higher level mathematics classes?

Anything with with vector addition/subtraction, scalar multiplication, modular pair relations, orthocomplements–I can really go to town. Your students will weep when I leave.

Francois, good luck and kick some ass. I like Olaf’s quote, but unfortunately, I think I lose. I just intalled a 48 tooth chainring on my Guru Trilite (700 wheels). Now I can at least be a big chainring stud like the rest of you animals, except, my gearing will be 10% smaller

Tear up the course. Sub 9, or you are a poser

obrigado monk…it´s taken care of…

Good luck Francois, good luck for Olaf!
Glad to know the bike got in safely!

Time to practice some of the “good” Portuguese you learned. Ask Olaf if he still remembers what to say in case someone gets on his wheel!

Good luck Francois. I heard though that they changed the bike course to 4 laps! Just kidding. I’ll be pulling for you on Sunday.

Wow!–What is the size of your small chainring?

That is his small chain ring…

but in the true spirit of the compact crank, his large is a 50. You wouldn’t believe how smooth the shifting is up front!

No guys, 48 is the big ring. The small ring is 34, mainly for training in the hills at slow speed at high RPM. For racing a 48 tooth allows me to ride at 60 kph in a 12 tooth at 112 RPM or 20 kph in the 25 tooth at 80 RPM. This gives me a wide range in one chainring. It still makes me a loser in big ring arms race though.

Francois, what is the predicted weather for race day ?

Say Hello to Ken Glah and Joanna Zieger for me! Tell Joanna “Good Luck” from Z and Chuck at the NTC. Z

Good Luck Francois, race well.

Boa sorte! Eat some pao de queijo. Those things are good. And drink some Guarana. I love that stuff.

pao de queijo…is it bread with cheese?

if you are coming to brasil and haven’t left yet…bring warm clothes…a bit chilly here…at least compared to the 102F of 3 days ago…

weather for sunday - 76/63, sunny

water is WARM…could be no wetsuit

Good luck Francois! And to Olaf too.

clm
