In a training funk

Training for IMWI…Monday was a Big Day for me: 1.75mi swim, 85mi ride, 14mi run. ~95 degrees in Chicago.

Felt great that evening. Ate well and slept in and took the day off to recovery on Tuesday. Still felt great. Wednesday rolls around and I have major headcold, cant get motivated to get out of bed. Same thing Thursday and Friday morning. Fortunately I got some time in on the Trainer Wed and Thurs night. But overall volume sucks this week.

Anyone experience this after a big day? I think im just going to chalk it up to a rest week, plus its been nearly 100+ degrees all week here, so if there is any week to scale back, this was it. But I feel like after months of hard work, this week just sucked and I dont want it to become a trend, especially now that Im only 2 months out from IMWI.

you should be tired.

i reserve those distances for race day only. i might have done the swim/bike or swim/run but not the S/B/R of that magnitude. other than getting hurt or sick, you really don’t gain much from the magnitude of the workout you did. especially 2months out.

Recover well. and don’t do that again. split it up.

i’m thinking Joe didn’t intend for that to happen in 95* weather…

rest up and don’t do anything silly, at least until you feel better.
