Was riding a Felt Devox aerobar set up, but my bull horn decided to break off yesterday.
Need a replacement, but struggling to find anything reasonable out there these days. Zipp Vuka Aero Bar out of production since 2012, Devox Aerobar hard to find anywhere either. Are there any other basebars out there I should be thinking of? Older PRO Missile ones?
Easton Attack?
I saw the thread title and immediately said “Felt Devox!”, which is what I’m riding. Hope mine won’t break the same way…
I believe when the ENVE SES bar is mounted with the extensions below the base, it’s possible to mount the pads slightly lower than the stem’s top. The PRO Missile Evo can also be mounted very low.
If you’re looking for something less expensive, Profile Design’s T-series clip on design can be mounted below the bar, resulting in very low stack. I used that to get my girlfriend into a cost-effective, low position on her road-bike. Pair that with a reasonably aero base-bar, and I believe you won’t be losing much in aerodynamics over a proprietary extension mount. Syntace Stratos + Profile Design T2 sounds like a pretty aero setup…
So here are my options… I think…
- Get my bar fixed, quoted about $400
- Get a 3T Ventus II and give up a few cms of stack, for $1000
- ENVE or PRO Missile with bars below base bar… not really a fan of the aesthetic of this though…
Easton Attack is an option, I guess, but I’d rather something more adjustable.
Could always get the Zipp Vuka Bull with Zipp Vuka Clips and go below the bars with your extensions… less than $1000!!!
The Alloy Bayonet is under $400 (Carbon $500) on Felt’s website… it’s pretty dang low stack. Looks a lot like the old Devox from the pictures I glanced at.
I use a Bayonet, it’s just the aluminum version of the Devox. I got mine as a new bike take off for 125 on Ebay.
I have a 3T Mistral – pads mount directly to the base bar, extensions mount underneath the base bar. I think it’s still in production, though not commonly stocked.
TriRig Alpha: pads can mount directly to the base bar, extensions can mount underneath the base bar.
Same issue for me, was using devox, then had to replace it, so i went with a USE tula with normal style brake pods.
I suspect it is on the same tier of aerodynamics as the devox.
Since changing bikes, it’s up for sale (shipping from Aus)
Would rather get my one fixed than go new as i have a 40cm wide version… sneakily a bit more aero
