In a 1.5 km - 40 km - 10 km event can you beat these times?

00:20:00 on the 1.5 km swim
00:37:00 on the 10 km run

Just wondering

Thanks.

Sergio

no.

What if you only have to swim or only have to run those distances?

Sergio

closer but no.

me to,close but no,20 min is a pritty good swim.

Never the swim, but have managed the run once (must have been a short course or I was on fire that day and that day only), normally low 38’s on a good day.

Nope.
Is your kid doing this?? No way…
If so, WOW!

No way. He can not swim or run that fast… by far. Not even in his dreams

These are the swimming and running times you need to have a chance at winning a particular relay race in Mexico. Sergio can ride close or as fast as the best cyclist for the 40 km cycling leg, but there is absolutely no way he can swim or run that fast. He has not swam in a year and has made very little running this year. He needs to pick up his award for being ranked #1 in 2006 in México in his AG in the award ceremony of that event. I do not want him to race a triathlon without proper training but maybe he could compete this year in the relay race as the cyclist. Veracruz is a long way from Mazatlan just to pick a trophy so I was wondering if we could set up a team.

Second option is for him to race just for fun the 400 m - 10 km - 2.5 km race of the 14 - 15 y/o AG, but I do not want him to do that as I am afraid that he will not be able to race just “for fun”. The cycling leg is a piece of cake for him, but I do not want to risk his health having him swim and run a race without at least 8 weeks of training.

It is a nice ITU event in September 8th with 2,700 participants, very well organized. Nothing like the Baja 70.3 or the “Shrimp Triathlon” in Peñasco. Perhaps the only thing is that it will be most probably as hot as in Kona.

Thanks for your comments.

Checking closer the best swimming time for that relay race in 2006 was 00:20:42 and 00:20:39 in 2005 so the swimmer could do the 1.5 km in 21:00 - 21:30 to leave the cyclist not too far behind. Unless Raúl Alcalá decides to race the bike leg for another team.

Sergio

On a good day, yes. Why does it matter anyway?

Both, individually. Ony the swim in a Oly race.

What about the bike?

LOL he said he was looking for 2 people to do a team triathlon, he wants a person who can run that fast by itself and a person who can swim that fast by itself.

,

Maybe I’m missing something here but I’d think that he’d have no problem completing the 400/10/2.5 race. He’s a 14-15yr old who was ranked #1 last year - unless he’s injured he doesn’t need much training IMO at that age - he’s a fit young guy. Ask him what he wants - and let him do it

the swim even without a warm up. The run used to not be a problem but nowadays I’m old & slow.

I can swim 1.5k in 18min or so. How much is a ticket down to mexico from canada?

In a relay…? Around 17.30 on the swim and 35.00 on the run !

Ah, makes sense. I probably should have added that I broke my arm two weeks ago and can’t swim or run now. So I have no forseeable “good days” for quite a while.

BS…you can run that any day…just not without a warm up :stuck_out_tongue:

of course…what do you want a prize?

huh??
