ST’ers.
My plan is to drive up to Madison to register in person for '08 on Monday morning after the race. Since I’m driving 7+ hours to do this, I figured I’d take advantage of this trip and ride a portion of the bike course (40 mile loop) so I can get a feel for what lies ahead. Now for the questions…
**Do many people ride the bike course on Saturday before the event? ** Do many people ride the bike course on Monday after registering?
I’m trying to figure out what are my best options, and what fits best into the flow of the Madison area considering this is such a busy weekend.
Actually, I’ve ridden the loop BACKWARDS during the race a few times, and it’s lots of fun. Keep in mind the roads are not closed, and as there is traffic trying to avoid the racers, you need to be careful.
There will be people on the course on Friday who are racing (but who should not be riding 40 miles!) and also on Saturday, but I doubt Monday is a popular day for people to be riding.
As long as you are going to be there, why not consider VOLUNTEERING??? It’s a great way to give back…

I do plan to volunteer, but have yet to register as a volunteer. I want to be close to the finish area or T1/T2 possibly. I’m still trying to figure out my weekend plans…hence the question about when to ride. I’m not familier with Madison so I’m still trying to figure out the logistics.
