I am itching to sign up, but I really shouldn’t. I’ve only been doing triathlons for a year, haven’t done a half IM yet (planning on doing one next year). I have two small children, including a 5-year-old (6 next summer) and I try to volunteer to coach in his sports, etc. Just don’t know if I could fit in the training needed to finish well and be there enough for the family. And I’m still struggling to just finish MOP in shorter races.
BUT…LP is just two hours from my house. I have a friend at work who has done it the last three years (in under 10:30 the past two years!), watching him and others finish on the live feed yesterday was really cool. I would love the challenge.

At least the race will be full within a day or so. Just need to control myself today. I had wanted to go up and watch my friend race this year, but am going out of town for an olympic-distance race in two weeks and couldn’t spare the time away. Perhaps I’ll make it up to LP next year to cheer you all on…and warn my wife that I may not be able to control myself on July 24th, 2006 when registration for 2007 opens!!

My first race as well! Did my first 1/2 in Peterborough 2 weeks ago. Amazing how quickly one forgets about the pain and thrives in the accomplishment. But I’m still a little scared.
Did you see the mass swim start of 1900 participants at LP yesterday. Incredible!!
