Importance of rest days when I'm not working that hard

Throughout the season I usually follow: 1 day off per week most weeks + 2 days off with reduced volume every 4th week. I’ve found the recovery critical to moving forward with my training goals.

Now, I’m following a less structured off-season plan. I raced IMLP them did little until the end of August. Sept 1 I decided to take the advice of Fleck & others and started a run-focused phase for the next 4-6 months. So, I run 5-6 times a week. Because I still want to get in 1-2 swims and 1-2 bikes I find myself doing easy swim or bike workouts on the days I don’t run. Last night I looked at my training log and realized I had worked out 3 weeks straight without a day off. Normally, I’d be totally burnt, but because there are easy days as part of this schedule I feel fine. BTW, I took today off.

If I feel OK is it OK to workout 7 days a week?

Anyone? Anyone?

This will depend upon your physiology and age. Some people can train every day of every week and their body will respond. Other people will get sick or hurt themselves. Carefully monitor yourself to make sure neither of these things happen to you when you up your workout schedule, but try it and see what happens. Some people need a completely off day to not burnout but some people just need an easy day. Most people recommend older (30-35+) folks take a day off a week (esp if specializing in one sport) to give the body time to recover. Even when I was younger and alternating running days I could not do too many running days a week, unlike you apparently.
