ok – please humor me - my mind is running overtime full of nervous energy thinking about race planning and logistics and what not. i need some ST help on the bike. well, I need help on a lot of things, but that’s another story….
so i will be riding my orbea road bike with clip-ons. my training wheels are mavic cosmos clincher box rims, which I like fine and i was thinking of just putting my michelin race tires on these for IMNZ.
but i also have the option of replacing the front cosmos with an american classic 38mm carbon tubular. should i do this and carry both tubular and innertube spares. is the aero/weight benefit worth the hassle and cosmetic downgrade (for some reason i just think the front rim shouldnt be deeper than the rear).
the top 5 is anyone’s guess. I actually haven’t seen Clas run yet - can’t get a visual lock on him as he speeds by. But its just going to be awesome to see them all trucking on race day - G, Monica, Clas, MrA, Bella, John Newsom, Chris McD… I reckon the ChCh posse will do very well indeed!
This is the smartasscoach just giving you a slap in the hand! I’m all for working on the engine but you got to have some wheels!!!
Good thing you have such a nice coach, with me works the other way around, my guys usually lend me their stuff! LOL… My bike absolutely ROCKS with Sergio’s race wheels :-)))
And while on the subject, can anyone get Cathy a pair of racing wheels!? She’s a 100% work-on-the-engine-gal, but there are limits!
You know, every day there’s something about slowtwitch that amazes me. Admittedly it’s normally something like “good god, someone let Tibbs out again”. But look at this, what other sport can you take part in, where the legends you read about in the magazines are as involved with the everyday athletes.
Gordo, your site rocks, and in my build to New Zealand next year, I’ll be relying on it more.
