I’m racing IMCDA and IMC this year. (Not sure why?!) At IMCDA I am 39 and will race in the 35 - 39 age category. In Canada, I will be 40 and race in the 40 - 44 category. In the races I have done this year, I am racing as a 40 year old as that is my age as of Dec. 31, 2007. Why does IMNA have different rules on this than other tri organizations? (In case you can’t tell I’d like to be a 40 year old at CDA!) Any ideas?
I think it is best that you are in the 35-39 AG at CDA, assuming you are a guy ![]()
the less competition for me the better ![]()
fyi, IMNA doesn’t seem to follow all the USAT rules, see the post on aqua socks.
For clarification …
- They are not IMNA / NAS rules … these rules are in play at all Ironman/70.3/WTC affiliated races (all NAS races, plus independants such as eagleman, vineman, buffalos springs etc)
- These are USAT approved rules amended for Ironman/70.3/WTC affiliated races
- Therefore, in fact they do follow USAT rules
- My guess for the “age rule” is for qualifications standards for Kona as some qualifying races are over 1 year in advance … regardless, at the WC events in Kona & Clearwater you still race your age on race day.
Best,
