I just checked the UW Football schedule and there is a home game at Camp Randall on the 12th. Is IMMoo normally scheduled the day after a home game, or is this a treat for those of us doing it this year?
I have a bit of a funny story about this.
I stayed at a downtown hotel before Ironman Wisconsin across from a sports bar. An outdoor sports bar. An outdoor sports bar right below my window.
Well, if you can’t beat 'em, join em. At about 2:00 AM I was up walking the streets since there was no sleep to be had due to the ruckus.
Be advised: If you want to get a good night’s sleep avoid a hotel near a College sports facility, which basically means stay somewhere outside of town…
As it happened it all worked out since it took my mind off the race.
As that is early in the season and the Badgers, typical of most Big Ten teams, host the Sisters of the Poor in non-conference, I think it’s a safe assumption now and in the future that they’ll have a home game the day before IMWI. They hung 70 on Temple the day before I did it in 2005. I think there was still blood on the field when we ran on it.
