"****** By “free” we are actually charging you $25."
Classic!
.
Yeah, but you get a shirt for the $. It’s the only way they can be sure people who say they will show up will. It would suck to have 100 people say they are going to do it and then only have 30 show up, makes preparing kinda difficult.

It is the same weekend as epicman. All the cool ST folk will be there Thursday and Friday. Meet up for the whiteface TT Thursday at 4 in front of the pub.
You would be hard pressed to find a better value in a training camp weekend than you will get from Rich and Patrick for $25.

Boy, I would hate to be a driver in or around Lake Placid on that weekend!

Not much different than any other weekend up there. Dev is usually riding the farthest out in the middle of the road so I figure any road rage will be take nout on him;-)
Also, as that is usually the same week as Americade in Lake George there are 50 plus thousand folks on motorcycles all over the adirondacks that are far more annoying than a couple hundred dudes in spandex.

Except the cars don’t have to pass the motorcycles riding 2-3 abreast.

woohoo a shirt! Plus:
Your Rally Ticket Includes:
Group Training Opportunities on an official Ironman course. Course Maps, Coach Access, Group Rides/Runs, etc. Discounts and schwag from key sponsors 1) you can do that w/ your buddies and I believe LP can always be considered “official”
2) course maps? Really??? Don’t know where you can find them
3) ohh schwag
So it’s basically $25 for a shirt. Pretty sure it will be an EN shirt. The only thing that’s FREE is the marketing. FOR THEM.
I just don’t see why people feel the need to spend money on a training camp. Share a $100 room at the Norhwoods Inn w/ a friend, walk out the door and your on the official course. Spend the $25 in LP PUB.

I did an IMLP training camp 2 years ago through the Training Bible/ Friel people (although Friel himself was not there). It was group mentality, which meant that we did things like not dropping people or would ride to a point and wait. Had a good time and met some nice people.
I would not, however, do it again. I got more last year out of going to LP myself, setting my own schedule and pace, than I ever did with the camp. Granted, I didn’t get a t-shirt. But for $25 and a self-supported environment, I am sure I could have found a shirt that met my needs.
