One or 2 questions regarding LP.
Is it worth using an aerobottle on course?
and does one apply sun block throughout the day–I burn like seared tuna.

Absolutely - there’s plenty of flat sections on the course that you’ll be able to use an aero-bottle. And - Absolutely… (unless the weather turns out to be like it was 2 years ago… and then, instead of sun-block, you’ll want a row-boat)…
Athlete’s Guide and Spectator’s Guide for the race are now available on the IMUSA site…
I don’t know about plenty of flat sections. But certainly riding with it (aerobottle) helped me during my training weekend. I’m bringing mine.
And yes, I would use lots of sunblock. We started riding at 6am, and although there was some wind that kept us cool, the sun was out and boy do the arms still hurt a bit. And the peeling has started as well.
Good luck on race day. Its coming up fast!

Sorry, I am blind, whereabouts are they?
Well… ok… I should have said that there’s “some” flat sections…
Just trying to mentally block out Mama Bear and Papa Bear until I see it on the 24th…
Anything that keeps you in a stable, aero position longer is worth bringing. That includes an aero drink bottle. I take my own supplies for that race - a full aero bottle, 2 on the frame and 2 on the rear. Don’t like to trust that what they’re giving out at the aid stations is what I need. Yeah its a lot of extra weight but it gets lighter as the ride goes on, so its lightest when you need it most.
In 1999 I needed sunblock, in 2002 I needed RainX.
Look to the left of the “Ford” oval - right under “latest news”… (on the main page)
Here ya go!

Okay…now I admit to being the worst person on the bike on this board…but I can tell you that from riding the course with the IronTour that Mama Bear isn’t all that bad. I think I disliked the climb to Willmington way worse than Mama.
Papa on the other hand…ya that one sucks. And the extra climb after making the right makes me think the devil himself designed this bike course.
Here ya go!

Thanks…I looked again and I really am blind. Well that and the webiste is loaded with crap.
Thanks!
Yes… I’ll agree on that.
I think the weather two years ago influences my memories of the last climbs - right when I hit them was when we had one of the down-pours of the day - nothing like cold rain running down your face and your back in the middle of a climb!
Just read Page 12
“Typical weather in Coeur d’Alene in June will be pleasant…”
That’s good to know…wonder what it will be like in LP?
Might want to give their editor a coffee.
Well…at least they have the right pictures in the Athlete’s Guide…!
They’ve used basically the same copy since at least 2001. I keep seeing the same copy errors year after year.
Figured. Still…one might think after 4 years, you would know precisely what fields you would need to change.

Those typos made me laugh. Last year reading the IMC book I found out all about IMLP.
