How are to get a Lake Placid spot at the races where you can qualify to get one? Like the florida half for example… I have a friend thinking of doing that…
Muskoka north of Toronto is a great race. Held in June.

I think it depends on the race and your race division. For example, at Eagleman this year they have about 3 IM hawaii slots /age group. The top 3 or 4 people got those. Then they roll down the IM LP, IMFL, IMMOO slots. I could have got a slot without a problem (I am a 27 year old female) at any of those races because not many women stuck around to then end of the awards to claim a slot. My friend is a 37 y/o man (huge age group competition) who was is the top 10% of his age group and couldn’t get a slot because those guys all stayed around and wanted the slots.
so they just roll down the slots? I was moe so wondering if it was hard for a 29 year old male…

Often, yes, but not as often as at 14-17
this is the way they do it there:
After they give out all the prizes, they have a certain # of IMLP, IMFL and IMMOO slots - probably 10 for each race. They say, who wants a slot to IMLP? and if 10 people raise their hands and have their checks ready, they get the slots. if 10 people raise their hands, they say, ok, well one woman wants a slot - she’s got it. then they pick an age group - say 30 - 34 year old men. They roll down through the age group and give maybe 3 slots to that age group. Then they pick another, and so on. Only people who really want slots stay until the very end of the awards ceremony, so you can get lucky sometimes…
