Last time I did LP was in '06. Pulled out my training log and here is what I did during this week of tng.
Swim - 7500 yds
Bike - 185 miles
Run - 4 hrs
Strength tng - 1 hr
Total tng hrs - 18hrs
s- 3x 8500 yds
b - 4x 130 mi
r - 4x 32 mi
Total approx 13 hours. Volume picks up next week ranging from 15-19 hours/wk.
Swim: 12,000 yards
Bike: 5.5 hours
Run: 4.5 hours
Lots of intensity on the bike and run right now.
SneakySpeed…I am at about the same in terms of mileage. I am going off of a 36-week plan and this is my first IM, so I am not high in mileage/time training per week, and I am not really doing any high intensity stuff, just getting the miles and time in. After this first IM, I plan on my training drastically.
Looks like I need to pick it up in the swim department…yikes
.
Not necessarily. My general goal with swimming a lot is to come out of the water as fresh as possible. It’s all relative.
My first ironman @ IMLP
last week swim 2x for 5400
Bike 3x for six hours including an epic 50 mile , 4 hour ride on my old mountain bike. Still cold here in syracuse especially at 5:30 am so still on the mtn bike.
run 3x for 22 miles
Plan 14 mile long run for this weekend.
Keep in mind too that the swim portion will be very easy, assuming you don’t get freaked out by the crowded conditions. The water is calm, there’s no noticeable current, and the course is compact. I’m no fount of knowledge but I did the race last year and I agree with some friends of mine and others who have posted in this forum that it is among the easiest swims you’ll ever do.
I`m puttin in around 19 hours this week,
S-3.8
B-9.5
R-5.7
Should be maxing out at 23-25 hr. wks

Agreed. The swim is fantastic. I did IMLP and IMWI last year. I REALLY thought my IMWI time would be better than IMLP. It felt a lot faster. In the end, however, my IMLP time was 6 min faster at 1:02.
I screwed myself at IMLP b/c the first lap was so fast, I thought I would blow up. I was on pace for around 56-57 min and pulled way back (way too far back) on lap two. I was quite shocked how “fast” the swim course at IMLP was.
This week:
Swim: 3hr
Bike: 10 hours
Run: 4hr
Total: ~17hr
.
swim- 8000-10000 a week ![]()
Bike-80-90 miles a week ![]()
Run-40 -45 miles per week ![]()
Swimming and running are coming along nicely.
North east weather has been pretty cold,so I havent been out on the bike as much as I should.
I know,I just need to suck it up and get on the trainer.
Looks like everyone’s training is coming around quite nicely. Keep up the good work peeps.
MissP had a good long weekend of training with a bit of a bike/run focus.
Sat - 140K Point-to-point into a head wind the whole way( very tough ride) then 15min run off the bike
Sun - 20 K build run starting off really easy but building to 10K race pace in the last 15 - 20 minutes. Then 2 hour ride with some hard sprints sprinkled through-out the ride
Mon - 140K ride point-to-point this time with a tail wind. Kept speed up the whole way. 15 min run off the bike.
More than that.
LOL!

Yeah, everyone’s but yours! come man step it and and start making with the IM training already… ![]()
I’ve been spending some pretty long days with my ass firmly planted in the chair as I prepare for this one. No breaks, or very tightly timed runs to the kitchen/can only. I’ve been practicing hitting “refresh” a lot, both using the F5 key as well as with the mouse, and listening to streaming audio as I post on ST - typing as quickly as possible.
I’m getting my “browser kill and re-spawn” down, though that could use a little more refinement. I’m thinking about taking a workshop on that to really hone my skills there.
I’ve practiced cursing out the WTC, IMNA, Mike Reilly, and “the feed” in general. I think that’s pretty solid, though in that “Swear like a sailor” thread I really got shown how the pros do it. Man - there’s a real difference between us and them. DAMN!
My WTF?! is coming along pretty nicely, though.
I still have to nail a few key workouts before I’ll be confident that I’m fully ready, but I really think that this race could set me up for Kona as a late season 2nd peak.
