Who is doing IMLP or Tremblant or IMNYC in 2012? What are you doing to tune up for it?
Ironman 70.3 Syracuse is perfectly placed for any of those three. It is 4 weeks to LP, 7 to NYC and 8 to Tremblant. And the course is really similar to LP.

I am doing IM Mont Tremblant. I’m planning on doing the Tremblant 70.3 more as a venue and course inspection and will do Subaru Peterborough half as the one month out race warm-up. Looking forward to next summer already.

Tired of Running with headphones???
I’m doing Lake Placid. Will probably do Jersey Man Half in late May as my HIM tune-up. Five weeks out from Lake Placid, I’m going to do the Whiteface Mountain bike climb: not so much specifically for Lake Placid training, but just because I love that whole area of New York.
FYI Jerseyman RD took a job with J-chip timing so I am not sure if Jerseyman is happening. An alternate would be Bassman half 3 weeks prior.
Good marketing strategy. Hope it doesn’t backfire.
By the way, does anybody know the status of Lake Placid and Keane and the other areas on the course since Irene hit? I saw some original pictures suggesting that it was hit pretty hard.

I was up there over Columbus Day. Keene and Keene Valley both look fine and most everything was open for business. Rt. 73 by Keene Valley still has a lane out for about a hundred feet or so. Lake Placid itself looked fine and was absolutely hopping with tourists and people: very packed all weekend. I did not get the opportunity to go up 9N towards Jay and see how the road looks though (which I understand was the worst hit major road, along with 73 in Keene Valley).

I’m doing Tremblant. Leading up to the race I’ll be doing Mooseman, Tremblant 70.3 and possibly Musselman.

You know it is funny that I am not a WTC employee. Just an excited person that lives in CNY and is happy to have a 70.3 five miles from my house. So would I like to see the event grow, yes. Am I happy that WTC picked CNY to host an event, obviously. I am just an athlete like all of you happy to be racing. I am just trying to help WTC out.
For those that are against “corporate” anything, try and buy locally made gasoline. O What, you buy gas, you are helping the corporate machine.
Any ways, Thank you to all of those that do support our event and compete in our annual event. 2012 will be a great year and with the move to June we sure are to be back to the big numbers we had in 2010. Good luck to those racing in any race in 2012. I wish you the best of luck in your adventures.

I would advise AGAINST Bassman, The RD’s of CityTri are aweful at their jobs and the course is FLAT. Somebody should take over the Jerseyman course as it’s a perfect venue for us NJ folks who want a semi-hilly tune-up race without the travel & cost of the IM70.3 races during that timeframe.
Regardless of your reasons for it, your marketing approach stinks. Why not be forthright and state your true intention?
Wait what? 12 mile descent? At IMLP? Damn, the course I did was all uphill, in the snow, barefoot.
