IMLP Bike course elevation gain?

Does anyone know the total elevation gain of the IMLP bike course? Fellow Ironheads with altimeters on their Garmin/Ergomo/Polar have reported elevation gains from 6000 to over 12,000 feet. There’s a elevation profile on the website but no total elevation gain posted.

5740 by Garmin (total for the two loops)
.

7800 ft per TopoUSA software.

You have to be careful with some of the software programs out there that calculate elevation gain. Sometimes it might not know the exact elevation of a given point. When this happens it assumes ZERO for the elevation. So say you are at 2000 feet, then 100 feet later you are still at 2000 feet but it doesn’t have that data point and it assumes ZERO, 100 feet later you are still at 2000 feet. During that 200 foot stretch you did no climbing, but the software thinks you did 2000 feet. Some programs seem to have this “glitch” worked out somehow, but others don’t and it makes courses sound much harder than they really are. I have always heard 5700 +/- 200 feet for LP. All you need is a couple of data points giving a 0 elevation to make it calculate 8000-10000 feet of climbing. If there is a way to go back and check the data points and ensure they all have an elevation reading, then that would be a good start.

Perhaps, but Delorme’s TopoUSA is the same s/w Computrainer teamed up with to build their 3D courses, and I have yet to fall off any imaginary cliffs on my CT

I have ridden with multiple guys over 50 times on that course with different measuring devices and they all seem to come in at 6000-6800 foot gross elevation gain range.

6400 feet with the ergomo, the same in loss of elevation (of course).

Polar reported 5850 when I raced last week. That is both loops.

Does anyone know what Ironman/iron “distance” race has the most elevation gain?

Silverman is near 9000 feet for a full.
