IMLP 2008 Sign up

Good day everyone!

Last year when we signed up for IMLP we were suprised to learn at registration that instead of paying right then and there, you got a voucher and could get one for a friend! As we look so sign up again for 2008, does anyone know if this is the same process? Will we be able to grab one for a friend, or do you know where I can find that information?

THANK YOU!

 Mary

Also, wondering when sign up is… I’m planning to do first IM next year @ LP, would be a shame if I missed registration

If you are registering in person, it is held at the Horse Farms just outside LP (literally a spit out of town).

Usually it begins at 9am, and people will begin lining up at 0530.

I shot off an email to North America Sports to ask details, I will post when they reply!

Yes, same thing. Do a search, it was covered about a week or 2 ago.

So will you be able to sign up a friend too, or just yourself? Anyone know?

Someone can sign themselves, and one other person up. The other person will need to give the on site person:

Name
Date of Birth
Address
email address

Then NA Sports gives you a certificate with a access code to sign up on active.com within two weeks (i think).

I’ll post this again for everyone’s sake:

Subject: On Site Entry

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am planning on signing up for the Ironman Lake Placid 2008 event on site after this year’s race (Monday morning).
My questions are:

  1. Are you required to pay the entire entry fee (~$450) at this signup?
  2. What identification is required to sign up?
  3. Can you sign up someone else (Ex: I plan on signing up someone else in addition to myself who is out of state)
  4. What other general on-site sign up information is available?

Thank you in advance:Yours, etc.

Only thing needed is first and last name, DOB, email address and phone number. You will complete the registration at home thru active.com and you can register one other person.

Thank you so very much for your help! Sorry I missed the thread a week ago… but I am trainin’ for the Ironman! Must’ve been on my long ride.

LOL.

PS: Good luck to y’all out there. We’ll be the gang in the Superman tops!

Thanks for posting, I must have missed that as well. I thought I had heard that they were changing things up for the “10th” anniversary. I send NAS an email to the same effect this morning, but your’s answers my questions.

Does anyone know if there is on-line registration as well? I’ve heard a rumor that it may just be on-site like IMC. I emailed NA sports a week ago and have not heard back.

thanks.

Tracey…

Usually they have online signup beginning around 9 (please check me on that). Last year it sold out in 30 minutes online. Again it is the 10th anniversary so I ahve no clue what will happen!

Sorry to be of not much help!

Okay, so what’s the scoop about online registration for IMLP '08? Is it on July 22nd or the 23rd? What time is online registration open? What’s the link to go register? Why is it so hard to find this info on the IM USA web site?

What do you think they are chaning for the 10th anniversary edition…will it be a 3500 person draft fest like IMC…this alone might be enough provocation to get me to head to a Euro Ironman, even though I love the LP race.

If I am not mistaken the 10Th Anniversary will be in 09, Next year is “just” the 10Th consecutive run of IMLP?

Fred.

Yes, that’s why I put quotes around 10th.

I’m going to go out of my usual comfort zone here and ask for a huge favor from somebody who is going to be at the on site registration, but only plans to get a voucher for themselves.

Would anybody be willing to get a voucher for a stranger (me)? The way I understand it, there is no risk. I can give you my name, DOB, email, and phone number, and you can send me a voucher number so I can sign myself up on active.com later. I was at on-site registration for IM WI last year, and I believe if you sign up two people, you get two separate voucher numbers.

What do you say, anybody want to do a solid for a long-time slowtwitch lurker, and occasional poster? PM me please!

psst…Dev, there are other great iron distance races out there.

Hate to keep harping on this - but are you pretty much guaranteed a spot if you are there in person? I’ve asked a friend too late and am considering driving up (plan on being in the area that week anyway) to “guarantee” myself a spot. I am too nervous to ask a friend who isn’t familiar with active.com to sign me up…

From ironmanusa.com

When can I sign up for next year’s race?On site at 9:00 AM local time and online at 11:00 A.M. local race site time the day after the race.

What about the local Ottawa Canadian instead?
