The coolest pro attitude of the day, Tyler Stewart… laughing and making conversation when chasing down first place!! (one of many smiles of day… sponsors take note, good pr):
Peter A of Team Psycho leading the men’s race… and jokingly asking spectators to lead #2 off course “accidentally”:
My friend Mandy Braverman of Her Sports… had to include this, classic shot!!
BG on the run looking strong and thankful after getting her splits of being up 15 / 16 mins on Stewart and Holloway and 24 mins on Csomor at T2:
One for Charlotte Paul who was working her way up the field:
Amanda Lovato… well she… um… aw shit. It’s Amanda Lovato, who needs a caption!!!
One last shot of BG getting serious at mile 19:
There’s just something so beautiful and infectious about this place (no, I didn’t get the clap, again!!) that draws you to it each year.
Everyone should do this race at least once.
I must say the highlight of race day was seeing a pink Planet X go by while the rider was complaining about some “bogus” blocking call stating
“That was wrong, it should have been drafting, not blocking, why did they tag that guy…” on and on, realizing it was R10C then seeing the two
20 yr old girls turn to each other and say, “Did you see that guy with the pink bike!!” and laugh for about 5 minutes.
Nice shots - you must have ridden out of town to get them!
Also, re: blocking, there were a large number (about 1 out of every 7 or 8 riders) with slashes thru their race numbers, indicating they’d received a penalty. I’d never seen so many at a race! Would be interested in actual stats…
Nice photos, but jesus christ was this the draft/block legal part of the course? The 4th photo down looks like a group gab and ride on Saturday morning.
And this:

FWIW, there was very little of that going on that I saw… I was at about mile 3.5 then at about mile 52.5 and for the most part it was clean - just a few bunches like that depicted above.
I’m the first one to bash drafters and have tapped my brakes in an iron if I’ve felt any weariness at getting an advantage but considering 2200 athletes at LP, I was encouraged by what I saw on the bike.
