IMLOU race numbers?

I haven’t seen them posted. Has anyone else?

I was planning to send an insufferable email to my friends and family so they can track me on raceday (which they surly will not). “You’re going to swim 2.4 miles!!! I can’t even run 2.4 miles!!!” So hilarious.

I saw that IMC numbers were up so I checked the Louisville site. There’s a message there that says it’s too damn hot for them to be doing any work and they’ll get the numbers up when it cools down.

Seriously, I did just check and no sign of them.

I checked, too. Maybe the tyvex numbers melted together.

I really hope this race isn’t an organizational fiasco. First year events can go that way.

(Chip’s race, Rockman, went very smoothly, I might add)

How far in advance doest WTC post Kona bib numbers?

I would expect the organization of IMLou to be very similar to Kona…

“WOLF”

I have no idea what that means.

Just reminded me of the boy who cried…

based on the delay in getting the bike course posted, the very different course than the one advertised (so much for indiana), the general lack of information, and the non-involvment of NA sports,I suspect that we are looking at an organizational disaster in the making.

I don’t disagree with you that this could turn out to be a distaster…even if it is well organized! With potentially 2000 people, many of which this will be their first IM, swimming against a current without a wetsuit then hitting a course in the mid to upper 90’s could cause problems. Sure I know that anyone doing an IM should be able to do the swim in their sleep but realistically a lot of first timers aren’t always sure what to expect.
I do disagree that that the bike course is different than advertised - from what I remember it wasn’t advertised for quite awhile and the only courses that were talked about were those rumors spread on tri forums. Plus, if I remember correctly, IM Arizona took forever to post and even close to race date they changed the course. IMCDA changed its course this year and it took awhile before they posted it as well.
FWIW, I could also see this go poorly with how lame the website is…it gives the impression that they are just kind of winging it as they go along.

You’ve got to be kidding me? What delay in getting the bike course posted. Maybe I wasn’t aware of a predetermined date of release. So you’re saying there was a predetermined date? Do tell. Also, I never saw any advertisements relating to courses. I heard rumours. But once again you’re saying there were advertisements bannered somewhere? Do tell. Lack of information? What exactly in addition do you need to supplement what’s on the site? Do tell. Have no idea what the NA sports non-involvement has to do with your suggestions either. So, Do tell.

I think that Nina Kraft is going to be #1.

You just don’t miss anything do you?

Well done, sir.

I agree that there was no drop dead date or promised date, but I contacted them myself several times and there was no denying that the course was announced later than anyone had anticipated. It was not a huge confidence builder for me personally that they didn’t have the course sorted out so close to raceday.

Maybe it ends up not mattering and we all have a great day next week. I’m sure hoping that’s the case.

Are you racing, BTW?

No. I didn’t even know there was an IMLOU.

Chill Out

Remember this race is being put on by WTC, the fricken people that do KONA. I think they know a little bit about putting on on an Ironman

I have ridden the course three times in some way shape or form. I kinda like it. I am not overly thrilled about the swim just because I live by the Ohio and well…sometimes nice sometimes kinda dirty. I have friends that have done tris in it in both Lvull and East of Cincy. None has extra eyes or arms…yet! Ha. I swam in the original IM Utah…that was a fiasco. I think I swam 3 miles that day.

The website is pretty lame in comparison to other IM sites. Wish there was a little more to it. I just hope that they have a great race organizationally so we can have a great race otherwise.

Should be hot but OK! Hydrate early and often.

Wow, now I remember why i haven’t joined a forum in several years. Its all coming back. You express an opinion, and then an “expert”, who posts at least once a day for the last four years, gets his or her panties in a bunch and goes on the offensive.

So, even though I’m sure this won’t satisfy anyone:

(1) When the louisville event was announced, the press release stated that the course would be venturing into indiana:

http://ironman.com/events/ironman/worldchampionship/ford-ironman-louisville-scheduled-for-august-26-2007

If you actually go to the event’s home page, its the VERY FIRST article posted. That information is also, right now currently, “bannered” in the side bar. (just as a side note, and in further support of my claim of lack of organization / information, why do they have outdated, incorrect information right there on the home page of the event? “Do tell”)

(2) According to the information listed on the web site back in November, the course information was going to be available “after the first of the year.” I emailed mella On January 16, 2007 asking when the information would be available, and she wrote back to me saying “by the end of February.” Of course, the information wasn’t posted till April 27. Technically, that is “after the the first of the year” so i guess im just a Dick for thinking a five month delay is too long a delay or even a delay at all.

(3) What information would i like? Gee, I’d like to know my race number before I leave town so I can tell the few friends I have (remember, i’m a dick) what it is so they can check on me if they like. Oh, and how about a run profile?

(4) NA happens to run every other single Ironman event in this country, and have been doing so for several years. Silly me thought that such experience might be beneficial in organizing a race for the first time in a new location. I’m just stupid that way.

OK, you win. I’ll concede.
