IMLou DNFs

Does anyone know the percent of DNFs at IM Lou? I find the results filter on the website to be much more difficult to use than NA Sports’ results filter.

I volunteered this year (I’m doing a couple other IM races this year), but I signed up for IM Lou next year. It looks like a good race.

I was wondering the same. We caught a nice break in the weather, but it was still hot (over 90 degrees I think) by IM stds.

The results page is all messed up…doesn’t show DNFs yet shows 4 finishers with times greater than 17 hours. Guess that’s what you get when you go with someone other than Sportstats - arguably the cream of the crop of timing companies…imho.

EDIT: One of the results packages shows 1560 finishers and 143 DNFs - so an 8-9% DNF rate but only 1700 started out of however many signed up.

I think it was the DNSs not the DNFs that was the larger number.

Assuming 2100 signed up I think that there were only about 1600-1700 that actually started.

99% completed the swim and 1560 finished.

So the DNF rate was probably well within the normal range and nowhere near the scary numbers that were being projected on here 10 days ago.

That helps explain some of the names listed without numbers, and the large number of people without finishing times. The only way I can generate any info is to look at each age group individually, otherwise I get info on only 300 people.

Another question: Is the event going to be publicized or are race videos going to be made available for purchase? (OK, I don’t have cable or satellite)

143 dnfs according to the pdf file results.
Theres a pdf and text file with results was there yesterday at the end it has a section called DNF lists them all.
Sorry I don’t have the link was on the main page ironmanlouisville.com results2007 text and pdf file.
It broke them down like an age group last few pages and they are numbered 143 of them.

The reason for the finishes over 17 hours is because of the modified swim. With the ‘time trial’ start they didn’t start the official cut off clock until the last swimmer hit the water which took about 35 minutes from when the first AG swimmer took off. Therefore if a slow AG was one of the first swimmers in the water than they had that extra 35 minutes to finish the race within the cutoff time.
