Sorry for the delay, but here are a couple of group shots from the IMFL Slowtwitch get-together.

I’m afraid that I cannot name everyone in the photos, so I will let everyone point themselves out. It was nice to meet you all!

And a quick note to describe my day…

Out of 2192 people who lined up on the beach, I managed to finish the swim in position 2165 (time 2:02:08), please note that 2109 people finished the race, so I had to pass 54 people to get to ‘virtual’ last place!

I really did not struggle too much, I was on course for most of the swim just a little far outside in the first loop. I was able to site the buoys pretty well, and it may be hard to believe but I was not breaststroking, or floating on my back… I was performing my sloth like version of the the freestyle stroke (thanks Total Immersion!)

I came out of the swim deliriously happy, I almost ran past the suit strippers, but paused to get some assistance. The T1 tent had more volunteers than participants so I had plenty of help. I took 10:28 minutes in T1 just because it was quiet enough to meditate.

The ride was almost one long line of cyclist (not really drafting, just a lot of riders), I was in one continuous pass for ~ four hours. Then it was intermittent passing. (bike 5:56:32)

Run was uneventful, tough, but I have felt worse in marathons. (run 4:01:01)

Finished 905 overall (total 12:18:26) so I passed 1260 people after the swim. I’m still trying to figure out how to determine if I can claim the title as ‘most improved’.

How is that for a short race report.

Mark

The guy on the left looks familiar, but I don’t recall seeing the others.

Considering conditions that’s a nice bike and very respectable run, but my god, if you dont mind me saying, you major suck at swimming. So your experience on the bike makes sense. Most people who come out of the water that late are BOPs on the bike and run. Since you aren’t, they were there for you to devour. I’ll bet your run was one long pass as well.

Nice job. Call DOUG STERN!

Great job, Racing IMKY next year? There will be a current in the river, so you might break 2 hours.

Awesome Mark! I knew you would be close to the record for passing the most people on the bike/run with your stellar swim

Great job! Hope to see 'ya soon to get some more details.

mark, you crack me up–clearly you hate swimming even more than me.

way to go on passing all of those people. that had to be good for the ego.

see you soon!

<< knew you would be close to the record for passing the most people on the bike/run with your stellar swim  >>

He’s gotta go thru me to get that record, I own the lousy swim/fast bike record baby!! :-p

(I think that fella Neil Chanter gave me a good run at LP however)

Mark,

Great race report. I’m stoked for you on the marathon. Fantastic split after nursing a foot problem all Summer and not getting much run training in.

Congrats IRONMAN. See you in the Spring.

That’s me in the red jacket on the right.

Congrats on a fine ride and run. The swim…well that appears to need a bit of work yet.

Brian -

Love the new sig line!

Awesome

Arch.

Holy crap, I look like a mutant in this one! I’m the dorky one with the wetsuit in front/shaved head.

don’t worry TriBodyboarder… your pose reminds me of the ‘Two wild and crazy guys’ (Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd ) from SNL.

just a transcript, I could not find a video link :frowning:

But most of Slowtwitch will only remember Steve Martin from cinematic feasts such as ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ which they went to see because they really like Hillary Duff… anyway… great to meet you ‘TBb’

“They are looking at our bulges!!!” Sven and Yortuk (Wild and crazy guys)

I am the one on the left in the seafoam green desoto powersuit.

For the race I wore the same suit in blue-yellow.
