I have yet to get a room for IMFL, any ideas of an “off list” hotel close to the race venue? Also, I would like to not rent a car if possible so any info on shuttles from the PC airport would be great.
I stayed at the Sunbird condo last year. It is about 500m from the swim start. I think that the web site that I used to book it was www.pcbeachrentals.com or something like that. It only cost me around $85/night for a 1 bedroom condo overlooking the Gulf and with a perfect location for the race. I would stay there again if I was racing IMFL.
I’m staying at the Beachcomber by the Sea. $69 a night 2 double beds in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room. Kitchen too, right on the beach 6.5 miles down the road from the start. You can find more info from the Ironman florida website.

I’m embarrassed to say this…
In 2002 when friends and family came, I stayed at the Edgewater. GREAT pool and rooms. Around $100 a night.
In 2003 when it was just me (and my brother came Friday afternoon)…
I stayed at the Super 8 (<1 mile away)
$28/night for a (2) double beds, frig, and microwave. Make sure you bring an alarm clock, air freshner, and some clean towels…
