How long does Ironman Florida registration typically stay open before it completely fills? I’m hoping to get a spot for 2012…
I had similar concerns a month ago. I asked a few folks, found a few that successfully signed up on the internet and a few that didn’t. I ultimately decided on this route ironmanflorida.com/volunteers/

If memory serves me…
2009 registration was open for less than an hour online.
2010 registration was open for about two hours online.
2011 registration was open for about eight hours online.
Those numbers may not be exact but I think it’s a good approximate.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. The trend for most North American races (that aren’t brand new) is they’re taking longer to sellout. IM Canada is still open and that’s usually an event that sells out quickly. Lake Placid usually sells out in minutes and it was open for several hours. There are just more races available now. Races like IMFL and IMAZ will always sell well because both are very user-friendly courses. You don’t have to worry about freezing cold swims, you don’t have to worry about a non-wetsuit swim, you don’t have to worry about 95 degree temps, you don’t have to worry about biking and running up the side of a mountain, etc.
