IMCHOO Water Temp Please

Can someone please stick a Thermometer in the River and give us a temp?

78.1 this AM
.

Someone on the FB page said 78.2 this morning at Watts Bar, I have no idea where that is in relation to the swim course. Either way the water will be wet.

Every IM race I’ve done has been wetsuit legal. In the event that it’s not, do they allow you(men) to swim shirtless? or is a tri top/swim skin required?

I believe men can go topless, I cant find a rule that says you cant and if you look at photos of non wetsuit WTC swim starts you will see people without tops.

wearing my wetsuit even if it’s above 76.1. wore it at CAC at 80 degrees and felt fine. never going to kona so im cool with the * next to my name.

and starting at the end of the line?

It’s been posted on Facebook and now Slowtwitch so it must be fact.

I almost posted it in pink since its info from the FB group.

This is what I envision the FB looking like when they posted the 78.1 temp this morning…

I visit the page purely for entertainment, this was a response in that water temp discussion.

“the bad news is, unless it’s below 72 or so it’s pretty damn hot in a wetsuit and you’ll burn more matches in the heat like that”

This stuff is pure gold!

My favorite was “is it against the rules for me to stop at a store along the bike route if I needed to get something a little extra”…

78.1 = HOT but I did Syracuse 70.3 in a resevoir so no current.
I cannot swim without a wetsuit so its either that or I will likely die

I am ticked a work trip got moved so I can’t go up there to see the circus.

Someone already commented that with all the tri club pre-sales that all the new folks are saturating the field, you just can’t make this stuff up…

Definitely the FB group is interesting. Raleigh was wetsuit legal this year and I roasted. Non-wetsuit legal will cause an uproar.

FYI men can go without tops. Just look at Louisville photos/video, heck people swam in boxer briefs/UA drawers…

probably a smart move to sign up for a race that involves swimming.

Some folks, myself included, offered our opinion on that question and some of the answers were priceless…

Someone posted that the only way you could get DQ’d was that if you crossed the finish line with a family member. Another thought that it isn’t “assistance” if you buy something.

It’s a real shame that all these people that want to stop aren’t in my age group :O(

It’s not outside assistance if everyone is allowed to buy something…

I think 73-76 is pretty hot in a wetsuit, no? To me it is at least

Yeah its warm, I would use a sleevless. The part about it burning matches is what interested me.

huh, that seems like it’d be true also. I know I’m more tired after a masters workout in the outside pool(82+) than the indoor pool(76ish)
