IMCDA Rear Cassette Choice

Trying to decide on what rear cassette to run at IMCDA. At Lake Placid I ran a 12/27 rear with a 53/39 crank and thought the 27 may have been slight over kill, obviously less total climbing at IMCDA but I have heard the new middle section is tough. Any thoughts on gearing and how the 2 courses compare in difficulty?

I ran a 12/25 last year, and thought that was sufficient range of gearing.

IMO, you need easier gearing for CdA than IMLP. Steeper hills. Go with the 12/27

That being said, I was a newbie who only owned 1 cassette when I did CdA. It was 11/23. I was out of my saddle a LOT. But I finished…
