Link to article in CDA Press. Maybe IMAZ 2008 date change to November is old news and I missed it? News, while expected, is awesome for Coeur d’Alene area.
odd that the nasports website still shows arizona for april, 2008, and entry opened in may. if the change is official, i’m in for sure.
Considering that entry is open for an April race in AZ…I am wondering where GF is getting his data??
BUT>…I’m really glad that CDA is keeping IM, I hear it’s a great locale for the race…and, I will be finding out firsthand in 2008!
Paul
thanks for posting this, I wonder if Frazier meant 2009 for the IMAZ move? Everything I’ve seen and heard says that its set to be held on 4/13/2008.
Maybe they’re moving the April 2009 race to November of 2008? Could there be two Ironman Arizonas in 2008?
The date change has been rumored for a long time, but yeah, he must have meant for 2009. They have over 1700 signed up for April 2008.
I doubt Graham got it wrong, the reporter may have…
Thats the best news I have heard in some time, IMAZ in NOV, SWEET!!!
I bet they have IMFlorida in first week of November and IMArioza in the last week, any thoughts?
tfun~
Can someone please confirm or deny whether the April 2008 IMAZ race is moved to November?
As I am signed up for it, and it was to be my first IM, this critical for me to know =)
Nothing on there site…
I still don’t understand why they want to move IMAZ to November - seems odd to have two IMs in the same month, shortly after HI.
IMAZ is nice because it gives you the opportunity to do an early season IM and have plenty of time to rest and retrain for a full Ironman.
I agree, that’s exactly why I did it this year… to keep me motivated to train over the winter… and build a good base for IMC.
I just received a response from NA Sports and there current stance is “they do not have an update on this yet” Which to me means that something is in the works to have IMAZ moved otherwise they would have just said that IMAZ will take place on April 13, 2008 as scheduled.
I’m pretty confident that they won’t change the date at this point - atleast for 2008.
heh
I can’t decide if IMAZ moving would be good or bad news.
Gives me more time to train I guess
The response should have been, “I have no idea what you’re talking about” as that’s the response I got from the poor woman answering phones for NA sports. She said that she won’t have any idea about any news update about dates until the full staff returns on Wednesday from CDA. She had already gotten 3 emails and a handfull of calls in the 5 minutes before I called so at this point I’d be willing to bet she’s a little tired of the question.
I’m with one of the earlier posters, I’m registered for it and since it’s my first Ironman knowing the actual date would be very helpful.
Just read the article from the link. It sure sounds like they are moving the 2008 IMAZ to November. If this is true, I wonder if they will offer refunds for those who don’t want to wait until November. I signed up because I wanted an early season race. If they have moved it, I’ll go to CDA in 2008 instead.

Gees - you don’t think they’d really move an IM after announcing the date and opening registration, do you? I sure hope not! I’m the ocd super plan ahead type and this doesn’t work so well for me. I guess I may jump on the CDA wagon as well if IMAZ moves. But, I sure hope they make it known before CDA registration closes.
I’ve spent the last week thinking CDA was slang for Canada…haha
Pretty close to Canada anyway
