I know Eric the Demmerly destroyer is going to be there. I leave Saturday morning and may or may not have internet access once there. So, I’m asking now who else is going to be up there and can we work out a preliminary plan to meet before the race by tomorrow evening?
I’ll be there!
I’d love to meet everyone!
R.D.
I’ll be there to watch, not race. Starting Thursday morning I’ll be swimming at the Sicamus at 7 each day, then off to the Hog’s Breath for breakfast.
Why the Sicamus?
(Enquiring minds, yada yada yada …)
I will be arriving on Monday and will be part of the Cops for Cancer team (as a civilian). This year there are 18 of us from Winnipeg and almost 100 from across Canada. Give us a wave when you see us on the course.
I have the race tape from the 2002 race where they did a nice segment on you guys. Way cool. I really look forward to meeting some of you. (After having watch the tape 30-40 times this past winter/spring, I feel like I already know some of you.) Isn’t there a raffle or drawing during race week at Penticton to support the Cops for Cancer program? I thought I saw something but I can’t find it now.
I will be there with my Monster. Hungy, Ravenous, Crunch and Conquer.
the Sicamus because one group that I have been part of for many years, the TRI-DRS, Triathletes of the Dead Runners Society, meet there each morning race week to swim and play. All of the too serious for fun type A’s meet at the Peach ![]()
I will be there. First full.
Everyone in my family baild on me. so I will be all on my own.
Getting in late afternoon Thursday. Love to meet some folks.

What does everyone think about meeting at The Hogsbreath for an after swim breakfast on Friday morning? Or, possibly, meet first for a short swim and then breakfast? My wife flies in Friday afternoon, and things start getting a little crazy schedule wise aftre that.
I’ll be there…I’ll swim around 0900 hrs on Friday and then I’d love to meet…
Swimming at 9 a.m. works for me. GEtting something to eat afterwards is great.
any place specific to meet for the swim
Heading up Wednesday - staying in Summerland to lay low.
Heading up Wed. Although I’m not familiar with the DRS, I too swim from the Sycamus in the mornings and head to Hog’s Breath afterwards.

I have to admit that I am a card carrying Type A, although I try to keep it under wraps. It is one of the reasons I tend to avoid the pre race dinners. Standing in the food line I tend to start analyzing people: I can take him, maybe him, I can’t take him, he’s an animal - where’s his leash …, as well as starting to hallucinate about finish times: I could take 5 minutes off my swim, and bike harder than usual and leave nothing on the run and I’ll break … yada yada yada. SO, I’m wondering if we don’t impinge to much on Mike Plumb’s group, if the Sycamus is the place to meet for the swim. It would probably be easier to find one another, and less chance of starting a hammerfest (no bouys to race too etc.).
I believe Gordo is swimming from the Sycamus also.
Now, what was the reason I like hanging around Slowtwitch? Wait a minute, it’s coming to me… Sounds real good to me, just so long as people don’t mind waiting a few (ahem) minutes for me to get out of the water.
Finally back on line! A reminder for everyone: Swim at 7 am at the Sycamous (was reasonably calm there yesterday morning), followed by a get together at the Hog’s Breath.
As some one mentioned a few days ago, the pros do swim down by the boat. We were there around 6:30 am and the pros set up some buoys for what look liked intervals. Disappeared in a flash afterwards.
I’ll be the short guy with the black T1 suit.
See you tomorrow.
