When the IMC tax nonsense first reared it’s head I decided to pay up the HST.
I sent them an email agreeing they could take the HST amount from my c/card but also said that in order to encourage more HST payers it might be wise to offer at least some kind of incentive.
The response I got was:
We are going to offer those who pay the HST something. Watch this space. Followed by a winking smiley.
Or words to that effect. Anyone else hear anything?
On the topic of BC HST: anybody care to comment on the amount of chaos that will result from last week’s HST recall? Did active.com charge HST for IMC 2012?
I’m in BC and I was really surprised the tax was revoked. A lot of people, myself included, were pissed at they way it was implemented, and after it was reduced to 10% I thought I could live happily with that. We have to pay for our services somehow after all. I think quite a few people took their anger out on the tax instead of what they should do - and take it out in the next provincial election.
No clue how, or really if, it will effect triathlon here… I think people will race regardless. IMC seems to have no problem selling out every year, as do our smaller local races.
Chaos? You mean, compared to our usual provincial politics?
If we just legalized our multi-billion dollar pot industry and taxed the sale of it we would be better off then Alberta with its oil sands :).
Just wondering…we were charged ~$75 for HST tax IMC 2012…now the tax is supposed to be revoked…will we see a refund on our entry fee??? Let’s hope so!!!
The tax will be changed back to GST/PST in 2013. So no HST refund…

Interesting. I finally agreed to pay after sending a lengthy email to PNF. I never received any type of response. Very curious to see if they do anything. Please post with any updates.
Regarding 2012, I think someone correctly noted that the tax is not repealed until 2013, so, the HST we paid for IMC 2012 remains.
