Have checked the IMC schedule and there is no mention of Gatorade swims. Is this an oversight, is it not available or is it available in another format?
Thanks

You can swim in the lake anytime. The buoyed swimming area at Okanagan Beach, unlike most places where races take place, is a rectangle that is ~150m x 1000m long. So plenty of room for swimming. The course goes out into the middle of the lake, which is heavily utilized by boats during the summer. So I’m guessing that since there is unlimited swimming at the lake (unlike, for example, Tempe Town Lake), there are probably no organized swims on the course.
Thanks.
There has usually been an unofficial Gatoraide swim and they put up a tent by the peach and hand out gatoraide … but no bike bottles… they usually hang around in the mid-mornings. You can swim whenever you want, so its not like other IM events.
I thought only Jonnyo could address Penticton issues … you’re sort of horning in on his turf

yes…he is doing more than horning on my turf… rappstar will run away with the 2009 IMC championship title in a few weeks… You heard it here first!..
Swim anytime you want, just keep an eye out for the HFCS. Lot of it there!
What’s the deal with the swim course map listing the course length at 1612+450+1800=3862m? I find it a little hard to believe that they have it measured that accurately.
I’ll be arriving sometime in the early evening on Wednesday (hopefully around 6pm).
Will boats be out in full force or would I be able to get my swim on? Even if I have to wear a pink cap…
Thanks in advance.
You can swim the practice course 24 hours a day every day if you wish (except when its frozen in the winter). Its a long swim beach with buoys as noted above. You can only swim the actual course on race day. You won’t need your pink cap … but look out while swimming because people swim both directions on the bouy line.

No you won’t be swimming the actually swim course as there will be boats on the lake. The beach itself is more then 2k long and all you do is swim out to the end of the bouys marking the beach area and then parallel to the beach. TONS of room, lots of open water, no boats and will be lots of people swimming getting ready for IMC.
