We’re going out to ride the IMAZ course 2/19-20. Any suggestions where to stay & good eats reasonably close to the IMAZ venue?
Before I bought my condo, I would do priceline… Go on there and you will find good deals… I got resorts for 50$ a night and you may get 3 star for 35… same with car rentals, i get then every week-end, 11-13$ a day
It depends upon how close you want to stay and how nice of a place that you want to stay in, but there is a Best Western that is practically on the course. It is on Rural Road. It is attached to a Denny’s. If you look on Rural/Scottsdale Road in Tempe, you are very close to the venue. There are a ton of good places to eat right in Downtown Tempe whcih is basically campus. There is a breakfast place called U.S. Egg that is on Baseline Road in Tempe that is awesome. They have protein pancakes that are unbelievable! PM if you want more info. I would be glad to help.
Based on the criteria, you should stay at, in order of preference (and probably price) The Mission Palms, The courtyard by Marriott, the Hampton Inn or Springhill Suites, The Twin Palms, or the above mentioned Best West. Actually, there are tons of hotels in the area, but pricing is a little high this time of year…don’t expect big bargains.
You should eat on Mill Avenue at Ra Sushi followed by Cold Stone Creamery and drinks at Margarita Rocks.

Where is the race venue located? (Street Address). I (unfortunately) haven’t made lodging arrangements and should probably get busy on that tomorrow. The links on the website are useless b/c I don’t understand where they are in relation to the party!

I’m going that same weekend and it looks as though most places have raised their rates, I’m assuming due to the holiday weekend!
The race venue is Tempe Beach Park on Rio Salado and Mill Avenue. Street addresses start at 0 for Mill Avenue. I believe the host hotel is the Mission Palms. I live 1 block from the Palms…lucky me. Rates are high this time of year all over Phoenix. Tempe is very good for bike riding, with good bike lanes on most roads, so you can stay at any hotel in the area and bike to the start. There are 3 bike shops within a block of the Mill Avenue/University intersection…Dominec’s being the best. There is a running shoe store at University and Rural. I don’t think any of the hotels have a decent lap pool, but you can go to the University (google Sun Devil Masters) and pay a drop in fee of like $5.
