I’ve heard contrasting answers regarding the following question- so I was wondering if anyone here on ST might know from personal experience. What I wanted to know is— " Is it allowed to stop and collect something from your bike special needs bag MORE than once during the bike leg? " I also wanted to know the answer to this same question regarding collecting something from your Run special needs bag.

Their official position is no, it is not allowed. They stated this several times last year.
You’re “only” supposed to access it on the way back on the second lap.
Once you “claim” your bag it pretty much gets chucked into the garbage on the side of the road.
Last year I called for my bag on the 2nd lap and they gave me the wrong bag. Instead of stopping, I just didn’t take the bag they were offering me (I could see the # was not mine). Luckily for me, on the third lap, I asked for it again and they gave me my bag.
I’m pretty sure once you get your bag once, it doesn’t go back in line with the other bags. So its not likely you’ll get your bag a second time legal or not.
I suspect the run is the same way.

They did say you can only get it once. I don’t recall if they said which lap you can get it on, but I don’t see hwo they can enforce that, other than not being ready if you want it on the first lap, or having shut down if you are slower and want it on the 3rd. But, as someone else said, once you access it, I believe it goes in a different “used” pile, so you cannot get to it more than once.
if you’re really, really slow you could probably get it on the first lap.
I don’t think they started setting the bags up until the pros were into their second lap.
When I went by the first time they were just unloading them from the trucks.
