OK Slowtwicher’s Headed to Madison… please raise you hand and let us know who you are. Do you have a blog? When are you arriving? Any other info you’re willing to share… where you’re staying, your email address?
I’m in, I will be getting to Madison about 6:30 am Thurs., do the swim and get in line for packet pick up. Last year I was one of the first to get the packet and by the length of the line that people had to stand in later on thurs. and on Fri. I was glad to get it done and over with so I could relax.
I am staying at the Best Western Inn on the Park.
I do not have a blog, sometimes I think slowtwitch is my blog.
I’ll come up thurs AM, pick up packet and whatnot, and return home. Wife has school Fri, so we’ll all get there about 4 PM Fri- staying at the Edgewater.
Can there possibly be two or three moons in Wisconsin…we’ll see this time around…:-))
I’ll be there cheering everyone on!!!

Well, anyone who saw me on the bike course last year with the light silver bib shorts can attest to the fact that, even though it was raining (in fact BECAUSE it was raining) there was at least one (nearly) full moon on the course.
This year, I will be better prepared for the weather – no light colored biking shorts, just in case it rains…
I will never forget: “Dude! Those things leave very little to the imagination when they get wet!” Great … like I really needed something else to worry about for the next 112 miles …
You know after slowly finishing my first last year in the rain I ran right down the next morning to sign up for '07…
I was gonna be so much faster in '07…I had 12 whole months to get so much faster…
Goal for now is faster at all 5 things and let finish time take care of itself…unless something pretty unexpected happens T1 should be the only real challenge of the 5 (did I mention I was REAL SLOW last year).
Oh well, maybe Mequonman can heckle me some more and motivate for '08.
I’m coming in Thursday night and staying at the Best Western InnTowner and Highland Club.
My achilles injury from Steelhead could still prevent me from doing the race, but I’m feeling hopeful now that I’m seeing some improvement. Yesterday I was able to run a quarter mile before I noticed pain. My achilles has got three weeks to HTFU so I can run the marathon.
Unfortunately, I’ll be arriving on either 9/1 or 9/2. Will need a place for the week. I only pre-booked for a room from Friday to Monday of race weekend. Any recommendations of week-long places to stay? Mostly, I do not want to have to go to restaurants for every meal. So a place with a kitchen would be great.
I’m IN. I live in Madison so I have already arrived. have Thursday and Friday off from work so I will pick up my packet then. FYI—for those who have not swam in Lake Monona, when you practice make sure to spend some time in the water directly in front of Monona Terrace, there is definitely a different current there compared to the rest of the lake. I swim there at least twice a week.
