IM Wisc Bike leg trash AGAIN

I rode the course Monday morning after registering for next year. The amount of foil wrappers strewn about was nuts. Not only wrappers but three tubes, 5 full CO2 steel bottles, 2 spent CO2 canisters, 4 bottles, multiple gatorade endurance bottles, 1 empty gel flask and a rice crispy bar.

I was kind of shocked, I don’t understand why people do this. What’s so difficult about shoving the wrappers up a pant leg? Or in a back pocket? Or grabbing your spent containers? Just because they throw there stuff on the Tour de France doesn’t mean we should.

Makes triathletes/cyclists look horrible and gives people who are Anti-bikers more ammo.

Please try and hold onto your stuff. But thank you for the CO2, the 2 full gel packets and the rice crispy bar.

Some are honest mistakes or launches. I saw a few crashes and stuff was flying all over the place. But most is just litter as you point out. Did Stover race?

I did the race and never saw anyone litter on the bike course. I did see several bottles get launched and saw a lot stuff flying out of pockets.

edit: Never saw anyone litter outside of the vicinity of an aid station, that is.

hate to hear that but I did not see anyone little intentionally outside of the designated zones. at least I saw no spray paint on roads this year…

I ride the course often…maybe if there was a 5cent deposit on gel wrappers…either folks would not toss them, or I would get them and make a killing. Race day or not folks toss shit all over the roads.

LOL you bastard!

I’ve broken down a few transition areas this year. By far out of all the races I’ve helped tear down, triathletes stand head & shoulders above cyclists and runners as the biggest slobs at races. You’d think their mommy was at the race or something.

I saw at least a dozen people throw trash on the rode not near an aid station. They knew they were throwing trash, too.

You were too far ahead to see the trash throwers. I saw at least a dozen. Taking a gel and then throwing the wrapper on the ground.
