IM wannabe

I would like to do an IM next year. What are some good ones to consider. I realize that many will sell out or have sold out, My time frame is June-ish to October-ish. Any suggestions? I would not mind leaving the US for one either.

.

If you are willing to pay $1,000.00 you can cherry pick your race - any of em.

Actually Francois, I am only a few half IM’s So far. I was hoping to step up to the line this year but did not get into Florida when the rest of the group did and missed out.

Next year though I am wide open to some possibilities. I am considering Germany, France (it moves to Nice next year?), possibly Brazil, Switzerland, Wisconsin, and Coeur d’Alene. France, Germany, and Coeur d’Alene seem like they might be best for me since it gets too damn hot here to train in July and August at those distances. I can taper through June real nice and not worry too much about the heat.

.

You know, I’m surprised that more people don’t do that(or maybe they do and just don’t say it.) For all the money that you trowel out to do an IM, another $600 seems trivial(that probably sounds hypocritical coming from me), especially considering that it should be tax-deductible.

Rusty, if you’re not hung up on doing an M-Dot race, I hear that Vineman and the Duke Blue Devil are nice races.

My recommendation: Lanzarote AKA IMTrialByFire

Should? It IS tax deductable.

I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. Thanks for verifying.

Lanzarote? Geez I’m not that sick. I’ve had my share of hard races already (KKT this year was insane)…

that’s ok, between me, MG and Todd we all look the same. MG is signed up for IMFL this year.
