IM WALES Bike Course Intel

Can anyone who has done IMLP, IMCAN or IMMT who has done IMWales shed any intel on the Wales bike course. Is there anything like whiteface, Yellow Lake, Richters, Montee Ryan or is it all just rolling hills, any really long ascents/descents? 40 days to go.

Might be worth looking here

Thanks, the second link was better, lots of bumpf to skim through. Lots of technical descents, no rhythm rolling from one hill to the next. I get a general feel it will be like parts of Savageman. Lots of inexperience on that link but one or two folks had good info. Thanks

There’s a good overview of the course here:

I did the race in 2012, but can’t compare with any of the races you listed above.

There are no big climbs, but there is a lot of climbing some of it is steep (Wisemans Bridge is up to 16%), some of the decents are on twisty narrow roads. It is constantly up and down and leg sapping. The run is hilly too and the swim ain’t flat either !

The whole of Tenby comes out to support, support is a little sparse out on the bike course, but any time it passes through a town or village the support is excellent. Its a great race, enjoy it !

Thanks for your info, I’ve read some of Cox’s stuff before. Feeling a bit more settled I’m on the right track. I’ll have to start adding some more hills on my long runs than are already there
