I'm very worried about certain Forum members

… who are missing, and that i can’t locate. all morning i’ve been hunting for evidence of art, and mojo, and the other guardians of our traditional values, and if i don’t see them posting here pretty soon i can only assume that they’ve been swept up in the rapture, leaving the rest of us left to stew in our godless heathen juices

Don’t worry Dan, Mojo is currently preparing his explanation and he will address this forum in an afternoon press conference.

To quote Mojo:

“As far as November 7th is concerned I am absolutely certain that the Hezbocrats will be slaughtered. When I say “slaughtered” it does not mean that Republicans will manage to maintain control of both houses of congress by fending off terrorist sympathizing, treasonous, deceitful Hezbocrats…it means that Republicans will increase their control of both houses of congress by a wide margin. Hezbocrats and the MSM that support them will be wondering what happened…and I will be happy to explain what happened, on November 8th.”

Stay tuned.

I can’t wait… I’m more excited about this than what the Rove, err, I mean the president is going to say today…

Didn’t you hear? Bush invited all the leading Dems to lunch. Now that they have a majority in the house, I guess he finally wants to reach across party lines. It only took 6 years.

HA!

Oh the pain,the pain

enough time must elapse for the Rush Limbaugh program to air in order for the appropriate talking points to be learned. wait until this afternoon.

ahh, the winds of change. how refreshing. kinda reminds me of the hope and optimism i felt on another november morning in 1994. and just look how great that turned out…oh wait.

my prediction - the 'crats, fat and bloated with power, are taken down in another republican landslide 12 years from now and we can start this all over again.

it’s all rather boring to me. (except when rumsfeld finally gets canned…can’t wait for that)

Did he really? That’s a stupid move.

It didn’t take 6 years- maybe you remember his earlier efforts to reach across party lines, like when he invited Ted Kennedy over for a flick. I seem to remember that those efforts were rewarded with a slap in the face.

I hope the House and Senate are split. Our only protection from politicians is deadlock. However, even if not split, the Dems were pretty successful at obstructing process while in the minority. I trust that the Reps will be able to also.

You’re blaming the democrats for the polarized state of politics in this country on the fact that Kennedy didn’t want to share a bucket of popcorn and a bad movie with the president?

Vitus, are you really holding out this president as a model of bipartisanship? Talk about getting caught up in the rapture.

You’re blaming the democrats for the polarized state of politics in this country on the fact that Kennedy didn’t want to share a bucket of popcorn and a bad movie with the president?

No, I’m saying that it simply isn’t true that this is the first time Bush has tried to “reach across party lines” to the Democrats in this way. (And Kennedy didn’t have a problem sharing the bucket of popcorn with the prez. You don’t remember that scene?) Earlier efforts have blown up in his face, as the Democrats he’s reached out to took glee in very publically rebuffing his efforts. I fully expect the same result this time.

Bipartisinship is a two way street. Can you recall an instance of Democrats working with the President to compromise on any issue? Neither can I.

How can you call Yellow Rose of Texas starring Roy Rogers a bad movie?!

You mean in the same manner as new FL gov Crist (R) did on Monday?

You mean in the same manner as new FL gov Crist (R) did on Monday?

No, probably not. (I am not familiar with Crist, but I assume what your talking about is the tendency among Republican candidates to decline being present at fund raising events with Bush, and the effort to distance themselves from him.)

What I’m talking about is Bush’s very public attempts to create personal relationships with certain Democrats by extending them personal invitations to “bond” with him and supporting whatever pet legislation they wanted at the moment- like Kennedy’s education bill. And after they leave the White House and get what they want (even before they get what they want), they very publicly made statements to the effect that Bush could “kiss my ass. I don’t like him, and I’m never going to like him, and it’s a good damn thing he supported my project. But I still don’t like him.”

Yes when pretty much everyone of them voted to back his war. Good enough example?

I agree that this will continue for the next two years - it will be hard for any of the Dems to cozy up to Rove given his overt hate for them shown over the last 6 years.

My question is, now that the system is fixed (legislature controlled (at least in part) by the party not in control of the executive), will we be able to obtain that balance again in two years?

Bipartisinship is a two way street. Can you recall an instance of Democrats working with the President to compromise on any issue? Neither can I.

Specious argument.

The President hasn’t had to work with Democrats so he has ignored them, he pretty much ignored most Republicans in Congress too. It was and always has been his way or the highway. Why in thw world would the President compromise with anyone when he has a rubber stamp Congress?

Try again.

What I’m talking about is Bush’s very public attempts to create personal relationships with certain Democrats by extending them personal invitations to “bond” with him

If it means having him shove his tongue down their throats like he did to Leiberman, I can’t say I blame them for their hesitation. That was creepy.
