IM training with just 15 weeks to go

There’s a full IM I would like to do with the aim of just finishing in 15 weeks time.

I’ve been running twice a week for up to 1 hr, biking once to twice a week for up to 2.5hrs

and swimming twice a week for up to an hour. I’ve been doing tri’s for the last 5 years now but have drifted out of the sport a little over 2003. I finished a 1/2IM in 2002 but as I said, seemed to lose all my focus.

I’m still reasonably fit at the moment.

My question is can I expect to get IM fit (just to finish the event) with just 15 weeks to go.

I generally use a run /walk plan when going longer than 1 hr as I feel I recover so much quicker.

Thanks everyone

LSD,

You’ll be fine. 15 weeks is a ton of time, especially for someone who has 1/2 IM experience. Just keep stretching out the longer run and longer ride and you’ll finish it in fine fashion.

That is a long time to be racing, 15 weeks. I would think you could complete the race in line 13-14 hours. 15 weeks, man you are patient! ;^)

I am starting this 13 week training program (in a couple of weeks) for Vineman. It will be my first IM. Take a look.

Hey guys,

I suppose “15 weeks” IS a pretty long time to take o complete the event. Probably would be an IM record mind you!!

Thanks for the info
