I'm through trying the straight/lower hand position

I feel faster, feel stronger, and my lower back isn’t too tight on the run after the ride, but my watch doesn’t show an improvement. Since I’m not as comfortable in the lower hand position, I’m moving it back to where I had it…where my ulna is level to slightly rising.

Anyone else put a stopwatch to this position change for themselves? Any difference in time noted? Any Power meter people compare power differences? Time is still “the” measure to go by, and combined time bike and run for triathletes…still, I wonder about power differences.

I used to race my TCR with a medium Syntace C2. Felt too stretched out so I’d grab the bars just before where they curved up. My hands were then in the equivalent of this “new” position. Then I changed to small C2’s with my hands in a normal grip position. No performance difference.
