I'm thinking this direction for my road bike. Opinions?

http://www.kuota.de/npics/kredo_over.jpgThis is just based on looks. Ideally, a great performing bike would look this good. So what do I get? I can get a frame and move DA10 over to it.

What is your goal? Super light? Long miles? Super sharp handling? Ride to the ice cream shop? Randonee? What?

Beautiful bike for sure!

why do you HATE me?

Just make sure you get something that is highly respected by roadies and will get a response from the general public of “Never heard of it” when you tell them what type of bike you have.

Fuck that…get a custom Litespeed for that money…then give it to your grandson when he is old enough

I’ve had a Kredo for several months - Campy record, zipp wheels, etc. It’s a good, solid, well-balanced frame. I especially like the stiffness around the head tube, an area I find to be weak in most frames.

Two things bother me.

  1. The proprietary headset. Hate it, hate it, HATE IT! I didn’t like it on my 5900, and I don’t like it on the Kredo. Anytime you’re forced to use a manufacturer-supplied part, it’s inevitable that it will be low quality, and I’ve found this to be true with the Kredo. The first set of lower bearings wore out in about six weeks.

  2. Price. $2700!? Way too much when you can get frames of equal or better value at much lower prices. For instance, I’ve been riding a R2.5 around for about two weeks (Thanks LaWoof!!), and I’ve found it to be a very good all-around frame/fork. I’m not a “cervelo geek” - they’re great bikes and all, but they’re certainly not the end all of carbon frames. However, in this instance, I would say choosing the Kredo over the R2.5 would be a very bad choice. For around $3000, you get a Chorus-equipped R2.5 - for a few hundred more, you get the Kredo with Centaur. Big difference.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really good frame, and, yeah, it turns heads, but is it worth the price? I don’t think so.

Dude, you live is Southern Florida, I believe. Fancy roadbikes with lots of gears are all poser down there. Buy some old frame with horizontal dropouts and convert it to fixed gear. Take off the rear brake when you are used to the fixed gear. Fixed gear too much? Make it a single speed. Anything else in So. Fl. is poser.

If your looking for something sleek, carbon and exotic, try a cormia puma. They look even better in person.

Better angle, worse color:

This keeps the curvy look of the kredo, and the carbon to boot–but will turn more heads and comes in colors other than black. eddie.

Exactly. Real road bikes have a framebuilder’s name on the downtube. Tom Teesdale, Calfee, Sachs, Croll, Mark Zeh; you get the idea.

All I know is my father has a Kuota Kisano with Chorus & Record and he loves it and I am jealous … Climbs and descends like a dream and I am jealous … He just took off the Chorus triple and bought a Record carbon compact 50-36 … I am jealous.

I know that Kredo frameset is supplied with FSA Orbit CF Bearing Set( stainless steel bearings and carbon cap ).

It has two different bearings: one is 1-1/8" and one is 1-1/4" ( specially designed for Kredo frame).

Are You sure Your bike has been equipped with its original bearing set?

wait for the Cervelo Carbon Soloist!

What is your goal? Super light? Long miles? Super sharp handling? Ride to the ice cream shop? Randonee? What?

40-50 on Sats, 40-50 on Suns, both hard and on the road (flat). Rest of the week on the Cervelo on the trainer with watts.

Maybe I should check prices before I fall in love.
