I need everyone’s opinion
I did a 140.6 race instead of an m-dot
which tatoo am I so called “allowed” to get
I would rather have the m-dot on my ankle than numbers but I do not want to create bad mojo
.

Neither, not worth the risk of contracting Hepatitis.
Get whatever tattoo you want. Who cares what everyone else thinks.
i agree. you did the distance. do what you want. the distance makes you the ironman, not the race. ( ok, i’ll take the heat for that comment, i am sure i will hear it)
M-dot doesn’t mean as much as it used to. It doesn’t really even stand for the 140.6 race, it’s just a corporate logo now. Ironman sold it out. Your now and IRONMAN if you do a half ironman race…I wouldn’t get one, there is no soul to it anymore. BUT if YOU like it then go for it.
Just say no to ANY tatoo…
Get whatever you want. I dig tattoos. I’m on the fence about an M-dot one. I was thinking about the Superman logo with an M-dot instead of an “S” inside the triangle.
if you have to ask you obviously do not want it bad enough and want to be TOLD what to do, get over yourself! lol
t~
get over myself???
I knew someone would post something rude
I just asked
thanks everyone
Chicks dig scars, men dig Tats. Just don’t go to granny’s backyard barn to get it done. Don’t think, just do…
Look in the mirror, and ask yourself…
“Self, did you ***do ***an M-dot?”
Golly you’re deep Martin. I hope one day all can earn your approval.
It’s your body, you can adorn it in any way that you like. There is no foul in getting an M-dot if that’s what you want. My only suggestion is to find a shop that is well established and follows all procedures for cleaning and sanitizing EVERYTHING. Second, if you’re on the fence about a tattoo, then get an impermanent one in the same area and of the same design and wear it for a few weeks w/o removal.
If you had to ask, I’d not get the M-dot. You’ll always have some doubt and when the first person asks and says, that wasn’t an IM race, you’ll go crazy thinking about it.
In my opinion, do a M-dot race, then get the M-dot tattoo, then there will be no doubt.
True auto
I would have to say
“well it was not an m-dot race it was an iron distance”
then if the dude was cute and he was using a line on me my chance might have been blown
by my m-dot tatoo
WOW!
Some of us guys are not that shallow. We can look at a girl’s tattoo and and not care if it was an IMNA sanctioned event.
I am a tattoo junkie. I am also a huge fan of tri and although I am even slower than my name says I got a tri related tattoo last year. If you really love something to have it put into your skin do it.
I would instead get something other than m-dot though. Someone on here had the chemical symbol for Iron ‘FE’ and the stomic weight was 140.6 which I thought was clever. I haven’t done an Iron distance yet, so I put a swimming/biking/running figure around my calf, I have gotten many kudos on it. Even when I am fat and old or should I say fatter and older I will still know why it is there and what I had accomplished and no one will ever ask me why I have a Timex or Kuji tattoo on my leg.
For what its worth.

My advice on tattoos…
Make your OWN design. Then put it away and don’t look at it for a year. After that year, take it out and look at it, and if you STILL want the tattoo of that design, go ahead.
My opinion on the M-dot is that it’s overdone. Get one if it’s what you REALLY want (a year from now).
Have you thought about human branding?

I always take my design and tape it on my bathroom mirror for 6 months. If I don’t want to look at it every morning for those 6 months, I won’t get it. It has saved me from about 3 tattoos.
I’ve just eaten 5 Big Macs. Should I get the Golden Arches tattoo or maybe just a burger tattoo…?
I’m torn, please help.
