Is there a way of telling how full a race is before it actually sells out?
Write the folks at ironman.com and ask. It did NOT sell out last year. I am waiting to sign up, but figure they already have my money for much longer than they need to in two other races that I have signed up for. If I miss out, oh well.

How full does it need to be before it is safe from being cancelled?
If they decide to cancel it due to lack of interest, when will they advise the people who have already registered?.
WTC cancelled the 5150 series finale less than 45 days out, when they “only” had 700 entries.
participant list is up on the website, as of nov 7 about 900 after you take out all the names they list twice (if youre entered for the sweepstakes). i wouldnt be concerned about a cancellation, if its 900 now should be at least 1500 by race day
